Find Ancestors

hi am trying to find information on a william blythe, he was born around 1857 in hawes yorkshire, i have found him in the 1861 census living with his grand parent richard blythe and ann blythe also know as fanny or agnes, i also have him in the 1871 census living with his granny, but cant find any information on him after that, i would like to find out if he married and if he had children, would also like to find out when he died, i have searched free bmd and family search but have not found anything, any help would be much appreciated

that would explain why i cant find him in 1901

1891 shows him as Stepson, so it would seem that Mary was his mother.

There is a birth for a William Blythe, registration district Selby so death could well be him, however, Selby is not the reg. district for Hawes?

so looks like she died some time between 1861 and 1871 and he then married William's mother.

so that means that in the 1871 census mary was not the mother to all the children?

Thomas Shaw (1871 census) was born abt. 1857 so couldn't have been Mary's son as William was born about the same time. That, and the difference in age between him and the other children, is what made me think that Mary was probably the second wife of James Shaw. That's why I looked up the 1861 census to see who was the wife then.

It's interesting to see on 1871census that living four doors along the road was, Richard and Eliza Ann Blythe, so could well be a relative of Mary.

There are two other children on1861 census who do not appear on 1871, Ann William Shaw and Margaret Shaw.

Ann Wiliam is noted as being 7mths but this is her birth:-

Shaw Ann William Askrigg 9d 442 which makes her 3yrs old.

and Margaret:-
Births Sep 1860 (>99%)

so she would have been just a few months old.

No way of knowing who his father was, unless his name is on either his birth or marriage cert. As it looks as though he didn't marry, that only leaves his birth cert. Sometimes the father's name is noted on the birth cert. even if the child was illegitimate but don't hold out your hopes.
