Trying to find FRANK GRESTY

I'm trying to find details of Frank Gresty born c1928, probably in Manchester/Cheshire area. He was brought up in Reddish, Stockport, and married Beryl Wraith in Dec. 1947. He was born out of wedlock, and Gresty does not seem to be the original name on his birth cert. He was brought up by Phyllis and James (Jim), I think Jim's surname was Baggley, but am not certain of the spelling. He had a half brother called Philip (Gresty or Smith) who lived in Wythenshawe in the 1950s. He was a sub-mariner during WWII until demob in the early 50s. He was my dad and i'm fustrated at not being able to find anything out about him, he never told us anything at all about his life before his marriage to mum, looking back I think he was upset at being born out of wedlock. I can't find him on the births registration, but he may not have been born in Lancashire! I have sent off for a copy of mum & dad's marriage certificate, but I expect that he will have entered his father as deceased, so I would be really really gratefull to hear from anybody who thinks they may know something about him! Did Frank have a middle name? I found a Frank A. Gresty born in the last quarter of 1929, District of Stockport. Mother's maiden name Coates. Volume 8a Page 77 |
