Moving From England To USA Between 1868-71

Eleanor Report 15 Nov 2007 14:54

I recently discovered that a section of my family line moved from Cheshire (Hyde, Cheadle, Mottram areas) to New Hampshire in the USA some time between 1868 and 1871.
Does anyone have any idea from where they might have sailed and if it is still possible to find passenger lists for boats from this era?
Joseph Hackney and wife Mary (nee Lees), and at least one child (John) made the journey.
Thanks!!!
