To summarise what Starr has said:

Margaret Ann Forsyth b 1885 Liverpool, married James Rogers in 1909, they are Starr's grandparents. Her mother is Alice Bertha Rogers, died 1961 Birkenhead.

James Rogers died in 1929 and Margaret Ann married William Francis Maher in 1933 approx.

William Francis Maher died 1974, his wife pre-deceased him, probably in the 1950s. We have a likely death in 1955, age 71, of Margaret A Maher in Birkenhead.

Starr thinks her mum and gran are buried together.

Starr, I would contact the cemeteries department of whatever council covers Birkenhead and ask them to do a search of a grave for your gran and your mum. Most local councils still do this free of charge if it is just a one-off enquiry.

Hi

I think that is a good idea to contact the cemetery that covers that area as I asked in the town I live in to look for someone whose date of death I did not know and they came up with it and the exact spot where he was burried.
I dont know if it is actually in Birkenhead they are burried but if so contact the dept and ask them especially as you know the exact date. I had to ask in my town hall for details. I assume you have your mothers death certificate.

hope all goes well and you find out what you want to know.

Gee Report 20 Mar 2010 19:52

She didnt marry again did she, after her marriage to Francis?

Although not the norm, it was not unheard of to divorce and maybe if they did she would be 'dead' in the eyes of the family?

Just a thought

You say you do not have your mothers burial details?

This information i would have thought would be on the death cert? At the very least the cert will have what the intention with the body would be, IE Cremation or Burial. This would be the biggest clue as to where she will be?

Madmeg Report 20 Mar 2010 20:10

Tracey, burial details won't be on a death certificate, nor any indication of what was to happen to the body.

Occasionally a death in a workhouse said "given up to municipal cemetery" where there was no family, but not in 1955.

I am not happy with her second marriage to William F Maher, as the spouse is not Margaret Ann.

England & Wales, Marriage Index: 1916-2005

I have several death certs which state what happened to the body!

Depends on when they changed tho.... probably when they started to include birth dates maybe?

Tracey
Which country is that...and is it one particular area.

I have never seen a death certificate showing an indication of place of burial.
