Find Ancestors

Trying to find info on a Mary Martin born Middlesbrough approx 1905 (maiden name unknown) and had children named John, Charles Kevin, Michael and Mary, she died approx 1938 I beleive. She also had a sister named Catherine.

Unfortunately not! I know her sister Catherine was married to a Charles Powley.

Do you know what years any of her children were born and most inportantly where??

Is this just coincidence?

All born Middlesbrough, Cleveland I think. John approx 1920, Charles Kevin approx 1925 , Michael John approx 1930 and Mary Catherine approx 1937. Hopefully the middle names should help. Now these are biologically Mary's children. However she died when Mary was very young and Catherine brought them all up (may have even adopted them).

I'm not sure I understand the last message. Does it look as though the sister Catherine not only brought up the children but moved in with Mary's husband also??? Can you find out who Mary and Catherine's parents were?

Numbers are the same so they did marry in 1940

Yes Loopsie Mary Martin seems to have been her maiden name. We have posted her childrens births under her husbands name Powley and it seems that after Mary died Charles Powley married the sister Catherine in 1940.

Peter can you find any for Catherine??

WE understood that Loopsie. It can get very frustrating searching but all info posted seems right to me, even down to Mary's death and the remarriage of her husband Charles Powley to Mary's sister.

Catherine was born Jan 1908 so she should still be on the 1911 census surely??? I am led to believe that they lived in a small village called Port Clarence or Haverton Hill near Middlesbrough, Cleveland if this helps at all???
