May need to start again.
When you say John Robert was born in Durham - where did you get that information from?

Could John R have been born before mother married Nichol in which case he may be registered in her surname... which may or may not be Wood, if you've found what you think is Nichol's marriage

It looks like this is the marriage for parents of the above John R in 1917 so not Nichol.

hi thanks for answering, I dont know the mothers maiden name is as I couldnt find his birth, but that looks exactly right, thankyou, but where did you find it, I did try freebmd and ancestry.
Maybe I was confused as the nichol hall marriage seems to be to a wood female. so I guessed maybe the John Robert birth should have been mmn Wood

Hi guys after trying all day yesterday and most of today,I am reluctantly asking for help. I have a marriage cert and part of it I am struggling with.

It says the father of John Robert Hall born 1917 in Durham is NICHOL Hall, I cant find Nichols birth or death, but I can find his marriage. By 1941 he is deceased and a coal miner.

On ancestry there is a thomas nichol hall who died in the great war in 1916, maybe his wife was pregnant when he died and maybe he didnt like his name of thomas, or maybe Im completely wrong. Besides ordering this other marriage cert which I will do, there should still be a birth and a death for him, why not.

THANKS to everyone. 22.6.10 Im in a quandry, tried to get intouch with Maryb again, she kindly found me the death of Isabella Patten/Patton but it says died 1986, my friend was told his grandma died before he was born in 1960, Im really worried, Im sure this death is correct, has he been deceived for 50 years.
PLEASE HELP. thanks to all UPDATE HERE 10.7.10 PLEASE ANYONE WHO HAS ACCESS TO WW1 RECORDS IS THERE ANY INFO ON NICHOLAS HALL BORN 1892 DIED 1918 ORGINALLY FROM DURHAM. many thanks
