Find Ancestors

Can anyone out there tell me what happened to Catherine(1871) and James(1874). They were both born at Louth in Lincolnshire and appeared on the 1881 Census but neither were on the 1891 Census. I have checked marriage and deaths records for the years between but have not been able to find anything. Any explanations?

Eileen, I think you'll find that the 1891 for James that Tania and Andy found is correct.

This is what I think, but it is not proof.
In 1881 & 1891 John Conroy is living next to Richard & Bridget Rowley, parents of Catherine & James.

This includes James Rowley/Rawley who is an Oil Miller. Is the occupation just a coincidence with 1911 that ***alviegal*** found?

In 1881 John's wife is Bridget from Ballantyne, Ireland. I think this may be his marriage.

In 1891 John's wife is Catherine from Mas, Ireland. I cannot find a death for Bridget or a marriage for Catherine. They may be the same person considering Richard's eldest daughter is Catherine. Also Bridget Rowley in 1891 is from Maes, Ireland. Another coincidence?

As for Catherine Rowley's marriage. You may have to buy the marriage cert. I've looked at Catherines & Kates born in Louth around 1870 in 1901 and can't find a suitable candidate.

Also don't get hung up on the spelling of people's names. Haven't you ever had your name spelled wrongly? In 1891 all the family is Rawley.

Hello Ozi,
thanks for your message and i have noted all the points. I have a copy of the marriage certificate for my Richard John Rowley to Bridget Collins at Louth on April 21st 1870. There was some confusion because at one stage in my research I had info from members of genes Reunited which put 3 Richard Rowleys married to Bridget Collins and all in Louth!!
As for Catherine's marriage certificate I know I can apply for a copy but I think they may need the partners surname as well but we will see.

If you get the cert through GRO there's no need for the other surname, just one of the couple's names plus the quarter, district, vol and page number.

I never give the other surname.
