I wonder if I bought my husband's full birth certificate from 1951, maybe she may have put her maiden name on it? He's only got the short version, which doesn't give the mother's maiden name. |

Mt gran lied about her family and weve traced back to 1500s recently had a photo sent to me of her brother aged 75 she had him as drowned at sea as a boy,,, !! |

I don't think that if I find out anything, I would tell MIL. She obviously has good reasons for the secrecy and I wouldn't want to cause her pain or embarrassement. It's just that my husband feels sad that he never knew any of his grandparents and he'd like to know if maybe his, or our sons, personal traits or interests are due to them. Does that make sense? |
