What there is, though:

Name: Frederick Williams
Year of Registration: 1907
Quarter of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar
District: Poplar (To 1965)
County: Greater London, London, Middlesex
Volume: 1c

Name: Jabez Victor Williams
Year of Registration: 1907
Quarter of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar
District: Poplar (To 1965)
County: Greater London, London, Middlesex
Volume: 1c

You don't actually have your Frederick's birth cert, that's right?

So he could have been registered as Williams if they weren't married?

WayneTracey

WayneTracey Report 27 Apr 2008 02:50

Oh Kim the birth was registered in the Mar quarter, this covers Jan Feb and Mar, your father being born in Jan is right for the registration quarter...

Kim -- I still can't even get the birth straight.

You say:

"i have bc it list as sarah boswell formerly williams in brentood sub isleworth no 205 and has 41946 at the top"

Does "brentood" mean Brentwood?

... No, it must mean Brentford, because Isleworth is a sub dist of Brentford, not Brentwood.

So the one thing we know for sure is that this is his birth? --

Frederick Oliver Boswell
1907 Jan-Feb-Mar
Brentford Middlesex

So if you knew he was Frederick *Oliver* Boswell it would have helped to say that in the first place?!

So at this point -- can you just confirm yay or nay -- that's him?

I do have to go, but I'll give it a think tomorrow - my time. ;)

WayneTracey

WayneTracey Report 27 Apr 2008 02:59

Hmmmm, maybe they were referring to another twin set? or that the other child was a stillborn and registered onto a different register...that is of course possible!

JaneyCanuck

I wonder ...

If there is a time against the date of birth then there was more than one child born alive at the birth. If however a mother had twins, one live born and one still born, then the live born twin will not have a time against the birth. I believe that until 1926 there were no registrations at all of a still born child. Having said that, again the early registrations are not consistent.

If a child lived even for a few seconds there should be both a birth registration and a death registration but I think in the early days that this wasn't always done.
