Whoa! I wasn't looking that far back. ;)

If Kim's great-grandmother was first married in 1846 ... well, Kim must be older than me!

So -- your Frederick is one of these?

Frederick Oliver Boswell 1907 Jan-Feb-Mar Brentford Middlesex
Frederick Richard Boswell 1907 Jan-Feb-Mar Mile End Old Town London, Middlesex

I dunno. It's looking like they weren't married.

Searching at FreeBMD for marriages 1880 to 1910, Sarah to William Boswell, there's no Sarah Kimber or Williams.

Now, one would actually have to look at all the Sarah Kimber marriages and all the William Boswell marriages to check that there are the right number of spouses on each page as transcribed, and make sure there aren't mistranscriptions interfering.

I did a quick side-by-side comparison (two monitors here) of all William Boswell and all Sarah Kimber marriages 1880-1910, and there aren't any that match up for quarter/district.

Here's one where there's a bride missing:

Marriages Jun 1909
BOSWELL William Hackney 1b 905
CHAPMAN Charlotte Hackney 1b 905
HAWKSBAN Charles Hackney 1b 905

But there's no Sarah Kimber for that place/quarter.

And here's a stray mistranscribed William:

Marriages Mar 1910
BOSWELL William Lambeth 1d [3_]87

-- post 1907, I know, but there could have been an impediment to earlier marriage, like Mr. Kimber not being dead. But again, no matching Sarah Kimber marriage.

If Sarah died when Frederick was 6 or 7, that would be 1913-14. If she was in her 40s, she was likely born closer to 1870 than 1860.

But there doesn't seem to be a death of a Sarah Boswell of that age-ish around that time in a likely place.

Here's a possibly interesting death, though:

Name: Sarah Kimber
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1864
Year of Registration: 1914
Quarter of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep
Age at Death: 50
District: Lewisham
County: Greater London, Kent, London
Volume: 1d
Page: 1088

I'm having to go home and make pot roast I'm afraid -- sorry to have fizzled out!

Hmmm there is no other Boswell child born at the same time as Frederick according to the BMD....
