Selena

PS Have you worked out how/if you are related to Maureen and Susan?

Samantha

Samantha Report 31 Jul 2008 07:35

Morning Selena
Sorry about last night other half had agreed for us to go out without comfirming first (dont you just hate that)
Susan is Maureen's daughter and Maureen is my dad's cousin.
Maureen's father was/is my nan's brother.

Next installment
Everyone in the family has mentioned about granny Hatcher and THE GYPSY'S,
Granny Hatcher was my nan's mother (just so you know who's who)
Now Maureen's father Leonard (nan's brother) told her that a gypsy put a curse on the family that they would lost a young child from every generation, well we have but not from every generation BUT from every bloody family, from the age of 12years and under.
I know that it really does depend on what you believe, but dont you think that its just a little spooky, ive checked my tree and sure enough there's one from every family so far.
Its put me of wanting any now.

I have to go get ready for work now, shall be back at lunch time for a little while and then back this evening.

Samantha

PS Im open to opinions on this one, let me know what you all think

Samantha

Samantha Report 1 Aug 2008 07:28

Got to admit its a bit of a weird one dont you think?

Samantha Report 2 Aug 2008 21:14

Ok next installment
Leonards parents were
Alice Maud Hammond b-05/01/1892 Staines Middlesex
Married - 1943
d-04/04/1971 Windsor
Leonard John Hatcher b-09/09/1881 Brentford Middlesex
d-14/02/1962 Windsor

Leonard b-1881 father was
George Samuel Hatcher b-16/12/1855 Merton Surrey
d-1904 Plomesgate
Married: 1880 Fulham
To: Emily Eliza Young b-1860 Chiswick Middlesex

I have been told on many occassions that Leonards grandfather (George Samuel) married an Indian lady but i cannot find anything to suggest this, i do have leonards birth cert with both parents names on it as above.
Maureen says that her an her brother and her children and grandchildren are all very dark skined and her father leonard aslways said that "she took after his indian grandmother"
So who is this Indian lady, PLEASE NOT ANOTHER MYSTERY

Selena in South East London Report 2 Aug 2008 21:20

Have you traced the ancestry of Emily Young and ruled out any Indian connections?

Are you thinking that George was married prior to Emily? He was 25 when he married Emily.

Have you traced George on the censuses to see who he is with?

Are you sure it's George who married an Indian lady, and not his father etc.

Samantha Report 2 Aug 2008 21:41

Evening Selena
How are you?
I dont think that George would have been married before because of his age so i ruled this out.
I am beginning to wonder if it is Georges father that could be the person he was;
Jonh Thomas Hatcher born 07/01/1831 Wimbledon
Occupation - Beer Retailer
died 1900 Farnham Surrey
Married BEF 1852.
To - Matilda Chandler born 1826 Newington Surrey

I think this is almost impossible without a name of the lady to go on.

Sorry can't be more helpful.

Here is John's marriage ref anyway,

Marriages Dec 1850

Chandler Matilda Croydon 4 105
Hatcher John Croydon 4 105

Samantha

Samantha Report 2 Aug 2008 22:00

Thank you for the marriage ref.
I agree woth you aswell if we dont know who the lady was, as i dont think Emily or Matilda sound very Indian.

Samantha Report 4 Aug 2008 22:30

I have just been informed by Maureen that her father had many children by different women after his first marriage to Lavender he went on to marry Emily and then she left him for some one else and he then met Margeret and had five that we know of but maybe six more children they all took his surname Hatcher, their names being David, Kenneth, Peter, Sandra and Carol these would have all been born after 1970 as he had Paul then with Emily and did not marry her until 1975.

Have you tried all the names in the search trees box at the top of the page?

Battenburg Report 4 Aug 2008 22:46

Just adding to" the Indian lady who married George". Perhaps she was only half. An English father and Indian mother so has an English name. Just a thought.
There has to be some truth in it

Selena in South East London

Selena in South East London Report 4 Aug 2008 22:47

I can only suggest you try some other sites like

192.com
Friends Reunited
Facebook (?) (I think a couple of people have found someone on there)
good luck

Samantha.
I think there is likely some truth in the "Indian lady" because its a strange thing for people to say unless there was something in it. As I said she could have an English father and Indian mother. Her surname wouldnt be Indian, so you wouldnt be able to tell from her surname that she was part Indian.

Samantha

Samantha Report 9 Aug 2008 15:28

So i need to look into either Leonards Grandmother or Great grandmother,
Grandmother was;
Emily Eliza Young
Born 1860 Chiswick Middlesex
She married George Samuel Hatcher in 1880 Fulham
Emily had a brother,
George Young b-1847 Whittle Essex
Their parents were;
John Young b - 1830ish Essex
Eliza Young (maiden name not known) b - 1835ish Essex

OR COULD IT BE

Great grandmother;
Matilda Chandler b - 1826 Newington Surrey
and married 1850 Croydon, to John Thomas Hatcher
this would have been George Samuel Hatcher's parents.

Is there anyone that could help me find any information on either of the two above ladies, as it is now amusing me as to where this Indian lady could/should appear.

Many Thanks
