I saw that one, BUT...

he then went on to have two more daughters, this Cecile and Madeline almost 10 years later. Would have made mother somewhat 'aged'

( gawd, not another blinky Harry/Harold!)

(( and the names of the girls seem somewhat fanciful, given the others - I know that means nothing, but ....))

i'll look into it thankyou

the only suggestion I can come up with -( and we dont even know that they were married, they could have been brother and sister) is this marriage.

its the only one ''up north'' around the right sort of time..

what does its tell us? not a lot

Harry Fell 1903 Apr-May-Jun Huddersfield Yorkshire - West Riding, West Yorkshire

Harold Field 1903 Apr-May-Jun Huddersfield Yorkshire - West Riding, West Yorkshire

Annie Minerva Kaye 1903 Apr-May-Jun Huddersfield Yorkshire - West Riding, West Yorkshire

Annie Shaw 1903 Apr-May-Jun Huddersfield Yorkshire - West Riding, West Yorkshire

Madeline was , of course, commonly known as Maud.

I wouldn't take a lot of notice of spelling at this stage - lets face it - Harry Melvyn - (the way it was registered at his birth) and the way you say it is recorded on his marriage cert ( the index just says Harry M, which if his second name is used on the cert is most unusual) again is different, but clearly the same person.

Whilst we have not idea where she came from, her father could have been anywhere in the country in 1901 , or indeed out of the country - married, not married, and anything between 10 years old and 40 odd..... all we have is a name .

I can list all the Samuel Thompsons that show on 1901 - but I cannot see any point - it gives us no clue as to which one he is!

Can i just say, that in the second reply to you, I asked how old she was when she married - it would have been helpful to say that although the marriage cert was unclear as to her age, that her death cert suggested she was born 1907-1908 -

Not every birth regestered has made it into the GRO index,,,so it may be worth asking at the Rotherham register offcice, also her name may not have been registered just Madeline,,but with another name,,,but you have a fathers name to check against so thats a help at the register office,,,,,,

Thanks Kay, it was me who thought 1907, I dont know where I got that from but we will get that certificate like you say its worth a shot, we,ll know on way or another then.

Kay????

Kay???? Report 30 Jul 2008 10:12

the spelling may not be as youve known it,but her death shows she was bn 1907 and not 1908 as someone stated,,,,,,

This birth looks like its worth taking a shot at,,,,,dont forget the information given on any certificate is only as reliable as the informant gives,,,....

Yes Kay it might be worth a look, we have come across this one before but discounted it because the spelling is different, but we do keep coming back to it, plus Rotherham is not a million miles from Sheffield [the Rebecca connection], although we dont seem able to find anything on sister Madeleine 11th May 1910.

Kay????

Kay???? Report 30 Jul 2008 09:47

her death 1980...

Birth year is recorded as 1907 and not 1908 ......!!!

Perhaps this is her birth,,,,and recorded as,,,,,,,

Cecilia Thompson.....1907--

Rotherham,Yorkshire,,,,,

July/Sept.

9c Vol--Page,,845,,,,,,,,

Maybe having this birth cert will confirm parents,,,,,

Kay????

Kay???? Report 30 Jul 2008 09:26

If Annie Field was born in the early 1900s her surname would be different, she was named on the wedding certificate of Cecile and Harry and on Harry,s death certificate both as Field, so can you tell me please how do I find her maiden name. Also the other person on the wedding certificate was Harold Nicholl I have found a marriage that could possibly be him, in Sheffield 1924 to a Rebecca Thompson I cant find anything else relating to her, I think that with her being a Thompson might it might be she is cousin? to Cecile and Madeleine where is Morse when you need him.
