Hi.
Richard was born in Tarleton which would probably be registered in Ormskirk as its next door to Banks

Hi
Checked out the Chorley Hannah. Her father was Thomas and mother Elizabeth. She had 3 siblings so that isnt the one as my Hannah was an only child. Ev

Evaline Russell Report 6 Sep 2008 17:15

To Cath and Nerine
Hannah wasnt related to the Preston Richard Worthington as I`ve already checked that out. I`m still convinced her father was the 17 Richard on the census that shows Richard senior as a farm owner and Richard junior as the son an agricultural labourer, which is what was on her marriage cer.

Neire. Do you know the Lancashire area at all as Chorley in a completely different area. All our family came from Crossens, Banks or Burscough which is part of Ormskirk. All registries were either in Ormskirk under Burscough or North Meols. Crossens came under North Meols too and some were registered in Southport. All registrations are now at the Preston Registry. I went to the Ormskirk Registry personnally as it is not far from where I live and they searched loads of alternatives for me. They even contacted Salford and Manchester but the fathers of them Hannah Worthingtons were not Richard.

By the way Cath where did you find that Ellen was boarded out to the Abrams as I asked George Abram and he says she didnt show on any of his families searches. He said she wasnr on the 1881 or 1901 searches she was with Hannah. I`ll look up the Chorley Hannah and see what her father`s name was but I`m sure that isnt the one as its the wrong area

ref /sent from my friend anneWell I've checked out Richard & Rachel - No Hannah
Couldn't find a Richard, with a wfe named Margaret or Grace but wondered if it was the one I printed out the other day, with a wife named Margery and they had misheard her name when writing the census, they do have a daughter named Hannah, that's the boatman!
Hannah born in Chorley her parents were Thomas & Elizabeth. It all seems to comes back to the same one again

So we can cross out the other Hanna 1864 Chorley

Neine
On the census I referred to where both Richards boatman and farmer were listed Richard farmer was 53 and son 17. I think it is the son who is Hannahs father. The genealogist records for Lancashire 1871 census. This would mean he had Hannah when he was 16 or 17 depending on what month he was born and what month the census was taken.

Gillian here is the info you wanted
In the Genes Reunited or the Genealist site )I use both sites and am not sure which one I found it on) in the BDM June-September at the top of the page it has 279 on the right hand side it has WAR.
In the second column under Wareing third one down it says Wareing Hannah 82 Souithport 8b 662. Its difficult to find if you dont press the zoom butter on the top first. I think my cousin who lived with her said she was PROBABLY ABOUT 82 when she died and that the registry looked up the birth and like everyone else could only find the 1864 record and took that as being her not realizing there was another Hannah Worthington in Burscough born at the same time. By coincidence both their fathers were Richard but one was a boatman and the other was a farm owner. Both Richards came up together on the same census, I cannt remember which one, so they cannt be the same person who changed his occupation/

Nerine
I think it was 1845 not 1865 that was given as Hannahs death year -but I have been through the complete BMD for 1845 and the first quarter of 1866 (to allow for the 6 weeks in which registration must be mad) and cant find her,And my eyes are going funny with squinting at the small print!
Evaline -you refer to a RECORD of Hannahs death -what exactly do you mean and can you provide all the details

sablon

sablon Report 4 Sep 2008 18:51

gill
would you be able to find a death of Hannah Wareing nee worthington Evaline says the death was 1965 if i recall, would they have her details.I was wondering if she had the right death cert.

GillianMac

GillianMac Report 4 Sep 2008 17:01

Evaline -you will not find births much later than 1920 on the Partial bmd on Ancestry but if you want us to look for you on the complete bmd give us the details -names dates and places

GillianMac

GillianMac Report 4 Sep 2008 16:59

I agree with Nerine that despite the differences in ages( which are at least consistent in their variations from year to year and person to person!) that Hannah the Boatmans daughter is the only possible candidate -and by the time she died birth certs were required (if available) to be produced on notifying a death so her secret would have come to light
Margery died 1877 Sep Q Ormskirk and Richard died 1875 so she was free to alter her age when marrying

Hannah would have been 22/23 years of age when ellen was born
i really think 1864 is her

Her marriage cert; should have said age 31 years ,this would have
given her a birth year about 1864/1865

I think the only way I am going to get an accurate date of birth is to go to the church records as none of that family, ie my mother or 2 aunts are in the bmd records for births. They may be in the Methodist church records, but I dont know who to contact. Does anyone know who can help me please. I appreciate everyones help but I`m just going over the same info. Thanks very much for your help so far.

sablon Report 3 Sep 2008 20:41

we have Hannahs marriage 1896 father Richard
she had a daughter Ellen born Dec Qtr 1887 8b 821 tarlerton Ormskirk
In 1891 she was boardered out with the Abram family when she was 3 years old
Cecily age 69
william age 70
Ruth age 10
I assume while Hannah worked as a servant.
in 1891 she was a servant
says she was born about 1869 very unsure
in Ormskirk parish North Meols
st cuthbert gives her age as 22
Jeffrey Wareing
1901 age 25 born about 1876 unsure again
head of household born in southport crossens st John Ormskirk Agr/lab

the more i study this family the more i think it is Hannah in 1864 I think the only way you will be sure is to get the cert; of her birth, the ages are all over the place she is the only Hannah born Ormskirk

1n 1891 age 22 born 1869
in 1901 age 32 born 1870
in 1896 age 26 born 1870

but can't find any births apart from 1864 to fit the bill
