Thanks Jeanette for clarifying the situation I really appreciate yours and Christine help together with anyoe else who added to this thread.
Margot I can't answer the question you have raised - I would not have thought so as they were humble east end folk.

Is this the Keeling family after which the Cocos (Keeling) Islands in the Indian Ocean was named after?

Hi Paula
Christine posted the entry from Ancestry which has them all together.
I posted the entry from FMP which has them separately.
I thnk they are different families staying at the same address as there is a line between them on image
sorry for the confusion

Sorry to he a bit slow here but are you saying on the census image for 1891 the Ellberbeck and the Keelings are in the same house. You posted just the Keelings for 1891 and Christine done the Ellerbecks - unless I am missing something I cant see the whole lot together on the 1891 image posted above.
Thanks

Hi Paula
re 1891 census
Ann & Harriet Ellerbeck are at the same address but Fred, Charles and Mary are quite clearly written as Keeling

Hi Jeanette and Christine
The 1901 census is the correct Frederick
The 1881 census the enumerator must have had a brainstorm when writing down the name Ellerbeck sounds nothing like Keeling but that may be the name they were using
The 1871 although no Frederick A was listed as you say age fits.
Not able to confirm if all the details you have posted I have as much idea about the family as you have and am doing this for a friend. He has the death cert for Frederick A. I will ask him who registereed the death probably the prison authorities.
Thank you for your help it is very much appreciated.

After seeing that Jeanette, he must be this one in 1891, mistranscribed.
Correction explains that he is son of Mary Keeling.
Image shows Mary Keeling.
He is single on here.

Thanks Christine and Dea
Have discovered since placing this thread, from the friend I am doing research for, that a member of the family apparently had quite a few different ladies, he may have put them down as wifes not sure??
He was convicted of a murder in and hanged.
Thank you for your input if anyone could do an further look ups for the Keeling family i.e. Frederick Snr I would very much appreciate it.

The family I posted were the wrong ones as I found them in 1901.
Maybe Emily was Fredericks 2nd wife because if you look at Emily's age in 1901 she is too young to have been the mother of Frederick and Lucy.

Hi,
Don't know if it helps as I don't know which one you are following but on the 1891 which Jeanette posted -
The name Perrell is actually Powell which would seem to match the following marriage:
Marriages Dec 1886 ***KEELING Frederick Edmonton 3a 433 LOFTHOUSE Mary Ann M Edmonton 3a 433 ***POWELL Mary Jane Edmonton 3a 433 Wright Robert Edmonton 3a 433

Just wondering if she was visiting the grandparents as posted above for the 1891 by Jeanette
The other thing is the family seemed to all come from the Tottenham area of London but they also seemed to move around a lot......

Mick thanks but not sure about the 1881 family. Will have to wait and see if any other census info is posted to try and tie the families together from the 1901 census above.
Thanks both for your help much appreciated.
