Thanks, I have ordered Charlotte's birth certificate.

I wonder if this could be William Henry's death:
Name: William Henry Teed
Year of Registration: 1843
Quarter of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar
District: Wisbech
County: Cambridgeshire, Norfolk
Volume: 14

Have had another look at the IGI marriage for William and Ann - it also gives William's father as William.

Potty

Potty Report 24 Oct 2008 13:19

I wonder if this is the baptism of Margaret b1837 although the birth it gives is only two months after the marriage I found for Ann Seaman and William Teed:

Margaret Ann Teed Pedigree
Female

Event(s):
Birth: 19 NOV 1837

Christening: 01 JUN 1845 Wisbeach-St Peter, Wisbech, Cambridge, England

Parents:
Father: William Henry Teed Family
Mother: Ann

Hi Gemma

I think I would get Charlotte's birth cert first. It should give Ann's maiden name and also any previous married name. This would confirm the previous marriage.

Births Jun 1857 (>99%)
Teed Charlotte Ann Stepney 1c 512

I think i have found Pilots death:
Name: Pilot Tidd
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1828
Year of Registration: 1882
Quarter of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec
Age at Death: 54
District: Houghton Le Spring
County: Durham
Volume: 10a
Page: 257 (click to see others on page)

Yet another different spelling of the surname though!

I'm trying to decide which certificates to order to comfirm these people are who i think they are.
I wonder if the Ann Teed 1854 Marriage would be the best place to start?

Potty, Thanks for all the time you have spent on this Puzzle.
With my Ann Teed (c.1818), Teed would have been her married name, so i dont think she is the Ann Teed you have found unless i am missing something? From the Dec 1854 Marriage index it looks like Pilet/Pilot Leed/Seed married Ann Teed?

That 1851 Census could be my Ann, meaning her maiden name was Seaman, but that Ann Seaman and William Teed Marriage is too early and has the wrong spouses name (should be Pilot b. 1829)

It is possible that William and this Ann are related to the line somewhere though?

Edited to add: Just looked at that again. Possibly Ann Seaman married William Teed, had two children (William and Margaret) then William died. William Jr and Margaret then became known as Seamans (1851) and Ann Teed nee Seaman remarried Pilot Teed?

Struggling to find Ann and William

Potty

Potty Report 23 Oct 2008 17:14

Rather an odd thing on the IGI - the batch for baptisms for Wisbech is only bringing up female names no males at all.

Potty Report 23 Oct 2008 17:08

Possibly a sister who died:

Looks like the index compiler couldn't decide what the surname was - I have checked the images for each Ieed/Seed/Teed entry and the names are all there - problem now is was Ann Seed or Teed?:

The 1871 says Pilat Tedd mariner.

The 1861 says Charlottes mother is a sailors wife so I would say it is your family.

Thanks Potty.
I've just found Samuel's Marriage reference as well:
Samuel Pilet Teed JAS 1822 10a 687

I dont believe that the family had a great level of education (Charlotte has signed her daughters birth certificate with an X) so this could explain why the spelling of the name "Pilot" keeps changing.

I have to go out now, but will be back on my Teed search later.

Potty ~ I know, the handwriting is terrible! This is looking more and more like my family.
Ive just found Pilot Tate on the 1841 census in Wisbeach with his father (Samuel) and brothers (Richard and William.) I'm thinking that this is my Pilot Teed/Pilet Teed as well!

Potty

Potty Report 23 Oct 2008 15:59

Looks as if his name was Pilate:

Teed Samuel Pilate Mile End 1c 485

Can't a marriage for Pilate and Ann or Pilate on any other census. Do you have Charlotte's marriage cert for her father's name?

Potty Report 23 Oct 2008 15:51

Petal Podd!!!!! Well I have to admit, I would struggle to transcribe tha family. It does look like Petal but I think I would say Todd. And his occupation? manner? I suppose it could be mariner; place of birth is definitely Wisbeach ( Cambs has been written next to ). Can't for the life of me see where Ireland came from!

Gemerald Report 23 Oct 2008 15:49

Thanks Keith, Every detail but the surnames fits. Also i cannot find any record of a Petal Podd except on that census.
