Tannaker Buhicrosan
Mr. Buhicrosan is another mystery. Not belonging to my researcher on R.S.Smythe proper, Mr TB is the pet subject of a Japanese 'common interest' friend. Tannaker Billingham Neville Buhicrosan is a mystery, dying in 1894 he was the proprietor of a Japanese acrobatic and magic troupe (and eventually a village) who appeared in Australia in 1868 before going on to England where he made his base and home. He says in an earlier account he was a dutchman or half Dutchman and lists his birthplace as "cannot say" on one census has been interpreted (by the lack of elegant calligraphic literacy of today) as Kamsay, which of course is not to be found even with google maps and a sack of bribes. His father was, according to his birth certificate Dr. Willem Nevell Buhicrosan. Tannker's wife, being Japanese, looks distinctly half something else unless blue eyes were added to the fine features of that race and I simply never go the memo. Beyond that our history folds it's arms, purses it's lips and snorts in silence.

A Mr. Brian Gibbs, descendent of this Mr Buhicrosan subscriber to a bulletin board to which I refuse to pay entry simply for a contact, has made several attempts to contact his distant cousins while Prof. MM in Yokohama and I wander about bumping into furniture regarding Tannker B.

Who was he and how did he come to have his origins in Japan? Mr. Brian Gibbs, please contact me.

Hi Annette...

Strange to see your thread again on the first page lol as I have been googling yet again tonight and came across a photo of Tannaker's Japanese Troupe on EBay...sold at the end of July for $310.

The photo was taken by a W Vick of Ipswich...sadly there is no date of when it was taken so I don't know if this was in the time of our Napoleon Bird...excellent photo though!
