Eileen Report 6 Apr 2009 22:25

Hi Carol,
I`m relatively new to Family Research and wonder if you could help me find info on a George Howard born (c1867, I think.) , possibly Berwickshire. He Married Applenna /Applena Dunbar born c1869 Scotland? , A family member told me they were on a cenus return for Lowick, Northumberlans but doesn`t have the record anymore and can`t remember which year it was, I was also told that Applenna fibbed about her age as George was Younger than her when they married. Georges Father is supposed to have been a Sailer or Sea Captain iin The Borders area but. all I know for sure is that they moved to Alnwick, Northumberland after Lowick and Applenna died 07/02/1957 and was buried in Alnwick Cemetey. George died later than his wife but I don`t know when. Is this info too vague to do anything with. I have had no success at all up to now and would appreciate any help you could give me.
Regards Eileen

Carol,
Thank you for your offer.
Could you have a look for a Henry SPARKES, born c.1841 Minehead on the 1871 Census.
He married Jane WILSON in 1872 in Swansea, Wales so im not sure whether he would be living in England or Wales.

I have traced him on every other Census, but this one eludes me!

Hi Carol,

Yes thats my Stedman, I sent for that marriage cert and everything fits apart from his fathers name, he has him down as Frank Charles Green, although I know that his father did refer to himself as Frank on one of the census where the Charles came from I do not know, as I am sure this is my Stedman, but after appearing on the New York Passenger list in 1883 he seems to have vanished!

I had a look at the index on Ancestry and Charles Stedman Green was a birth 1869/1909 naming the father as Walter R Green.....Stedman had a brother Walter and I just wondered if any connection.

Forgot to ask, is there any way of finding out who was in the house in Canada 1871 with Stedman, by doing an address search?

Ann

Hi Carol

Thanks for your kind offer.

I was wondering if you could look on the 1851 and 1841 census in Derbyshire for me. I'm looking for JOSEPH HULME, born 1822c Abney/Abnet, Derbyshire. Think he might have had a brother JOHN born 1820c. Joseph married MARY JACKSON in 1844 Chapel-en-le-Frith, Derbyshire and had a son, Joseph in 1851c. He was either a Carter or an Ag Lab. Any info that you find would be a great help.

Thanks Dawn

Hello Carol,

You must be a mind reader, I was just about to post a query! I do not have ancestry and apart from looking at the index am not sure what info you can access from there.

Firstly I am looking for a death of Stedman Green sometime after 1883, I have him as a passenger for New York and as arrival for Canada, but I am unable to find a death.

I have just spotted a birth in Ontario listed 1869/1909 Charles Stedman Green father Walter R Green, could you have a look at that one please.

Many thanks
Ann
