Squeaky020 Report 22 Apr 2009 12:12

Hello All,

I am offering to do lookups for people, I have access to Births, Marriages, Deaths 1837-2005.

Census 1841 to 1901.

I can search the 1911 census but cannot view as it so expensive!

I also have 2005 people finder which is very much like the electoral roll, everyone is not on it obviously but I can certainly search if you request.

This is the 1st time I have offered to do this and am a little nervous ! I will try to help as much as I can but obviously cannot promise anything!

I will try and answer your responses asap but I have 2 children and school runs etc to deal with so will reply as and when I can.

When you ask for a lookup please give as much info as possible about the person,
Full name, birth place, dob, etc etc to save having to ask for the details.
Also please state the information you require so I can avoid repeating information you already have!

I would love to help people with their family tree as I have received some great help with mine and would love to return the favour and will try my best at doing so !!!

Regards

Donna

Blue1 Report 22 Apr 2009 14:51

Hi Donna,
thanks for your kind offer, but this is a tricky one!
I have a person in my tree who uses two names and one is sometimes spelled differently in the census

I am looking for the death of
Bathany/Bethany/Amy Faulkner
maiden name Roland

i think she died around 1935 give or take a couple of years
In Peckham London S.E.15
she was born in Eastbourne in 1857

I have just found a death entry for a Bethany Faulkner in 1928 on freebmd, but it doesn't match what my father in law remembers,he is 85 and he remembers visiting his nan when he was about 7
he was born in 1925

Births Mar 1857 (>99%)
Roland Bathany Eastbourne 2b 55

Marriages Sep 1878 (>99%)
FAULKNER Robert Camberwell 1d 1084
ROLAND Amy Camberwell 1d 1084

As i said in the census she uses both names,
In 1881 she is Amy and states place of birth as Camberwell which she either lied about or didn't know her place of birth until later, the Roland's were travelers,so the later might be the case.

1901 she reverts to Bathany place of birth Eastbourne

I do know via my father in law that her name was Bathany but she was known as Amy,he also gave me the approximate death year

Goodness this all sounds like a bit of a maze, but if you have the time i would appreciate your help.
Thank you
Blue

*******BIGHEN********

Ok Frances Murray ....

I believe this could be her birth :

Births Sep 1855 (>99%)
Murray Frances Westminster Vol 1a Page 233

I found this marriage :

Marriages Mar 1889 (>99%)
Blake Alfred Wandsworth Vol 1d Page 611
Murray Frances Wandsworth Vol 1d Page 611

As for her death - that's a tricky one, what's the last date for her that you have? I found the family on the 1891 census in Kentish Town but cannot find them in 1901 or 1911.

Could this be her death?

Name: Frances Blake
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1856
Year of Registration: 1914
Quarter of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep
Age at Death: 58
District: Camberwell
County: Greater London, London, Surrey

As for Arthur A Blake - I found these 2 marriages?

Marriages Sep 1902 (>99%)
Blake Arthur Albert St. Olave Vol 1d Page 409
Marriages Dec 1903 (>99%)
Blake Arthur Albert Kensington Vol 1a Page 369

Struggling to find a death for him.

Elizabeth R Blake :

Name: Elizabeth Blake
Year of Registration: 1879
Quarter of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar
District: Kensington
County: Greater London, London, Middlesex
Volume: 1a
Page: 144

I searched through for a marriage - there are alot of marriages for Elizabeth Blakes if you look at freebmd.org.uk and type in the details - its very hard to narrow it down to one but you may have a little more info than I do.
Because Elizabeth could have married obviously that makes it hard to find her death not knowing her married name.
Sorry.

Jessie L Blake :

Name: Jessie Louisa Blake
Year of Registration: 1888
Quarter of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec
District: Kensington
County: Greater London, London, Middlesex
Volume: 1a
Page: 109

Marriages?

Marriages Dec 1898 (>99%)

Akerman George Windsor Vol 2c Page 1035
Blake Jessie Louisa Windsor 2c 103599%)

Blake Jessie Louisa Portsea 2b 831 <<<<<<<<<<<<<<
Dore Charles Henry Portsea 2b 831
Hill James Portsea 2b 831
Sherwood Emma Portsea 2b 831

She could have married Charles Henry Dore or James Hill.

** I think the Windsor marriage is more likely because of the area of registration - but Jessie could have moved so either could be possible.**

Amy Blake :

Name: Amy Blake
Year of Registration: 1893
Quarter of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar
District: Wandsworth
County: Greater London, London, Surrey
Volume: 1d
Page: 700

As for marriage - again a search brings up lots of Amy Blake's - take a look on freebmd.org.uk

Bertie Blake :

I wonder if this is his birth?

Name: Bertie Blake
Year of Registration: 1900
Quarter of Registration: Apr-May-Jun
District: Croydon
County: Greater London, Kent, Surrey
Volume: 2a
Page: 266

Marriages??

Marriages Sep 1922
BLAKE Bertie -Spouse surname -Harrison Registered in Islington 1b 755
Marriages Mar 1923
Blake Bertie -Spouse Surname-Wager Registered in Croydon 2a 411

Cannot seem to find a death for him! Grrrr!

I hope the info I have found is of some use to you - I am sorry I could not find more.

Best Wishes

Donna.

THE LAST CENSUS I HAVE FOR FRANCES IS 1901 SHE IS LIVING AT 37 WALDO ROAD ST JOHNS KENSAL GREEN .SHE IS THERE WITH ALFRED ELIZABETH ROBERT WILLIAM JESSIE AMY AND BERTIE ALSO ON THERE IS A SYBIL BATCHELOR AGE 4 SHE WAS NURSING HER AT THE TIME.

OUT OF ALL OF THEM I WOULD LOVE TO FIND MORE ON FRANCES.
I DO KNOW THAT WHEN I FOUND A WAR RECORD OF HER SON THAT WAS KILLED IN 1915 IN WW1 THE FAMILY FORM THEY SHOW IS DATED 10th MARCH 1920 AND SHE IS DEAD BY THEN.
THEY ARE LIVING IN LETCHWORTH GARDENS KENSAL GREEN MIDDLESEX BY THEN.

JUST FOR INTEREST I WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT THE BIT WHERE IT SAYS NURSING CHILD AND APPARENTLY WILLESDEN HAD SO MANY CHILDREN THAT THE PARENTS COULDNT LOOK AFTER THEY WERE SENT TO WOMEN TO BE NURSED.WILLESDEN HAD ONE OF THE MOST CHILDREN BEING NURSED.
THOUGHT YOU MIGHT LIKE TO KNOW THAT IN CASE YOU CAME ACROSS IT AGAIN.

I WOULD LOVE TO DO WHAT YOU ARE DOING BUT AM NOT VERY GOOD ON COMPUTERS AND DON'T KNOW HOW TO TRANSFER THINGS I HAVE FOUND AND PUT IT ON ANOTHER SITE.
MAYBE ONE DAY I WILL THEN I TO CAN HELP.

A BIG THANK YOU TO PEOPLE LIKE YOURSELF FOR HELPING US ALL.
