Interesting-i found a birth for Caroline Howard 1775 St Nicholas Rochester, Kent the same c hurch that Eliza Barham (parents Caroline and Samuel Barham) married Edward Green,1831-?no proof but it could be Eliza's mum

The burial in Kent for Caroline?
I googled searched and found the following
"Will of Joseph Foster Barham of Queen Ann St Middlesex, left cash to wife Lady Caroline Barham ,sons Wiliam and Charles and daughters Mary and Caroline
proved 15/10/1832

I dont think that is the Caroline that married Samuel

As this search is not for your own relatives, can you say why your friend has ruled out the possible burial in KENT for Charlotte?

Not saying it IS her, but I'd be interested to know why your friend is confident that it isn't

https://familysearch.org/ DO hold transcribed parish records as does http://www.freereg.org.uk/

Like Jacqueline, I've had a look for a possible marriage - it might be that they didn't make it official, or as suggested, the records aren't on-line.

That's because the Register Office in England/Wales didn't exist before mid 1837 :-D
Even then, it wasn't compulsary to register a birth until 50 odd years later.

For events prior to then, we are reliant on church/religious (parish) records. Not all PR are available on line. Some may even have been lost, damage beyond repair or the writing is so poor that the person transcribing it has had to make an educated guess at the original. Their instructions are to Type What You See.

Relating to the baptisms posted above.

You can search for yourself for free on http://www.freereg.org.uk/

The transcriptions might add more details than those found elsewhere eg for Samuel bap 1804

County Kent
Place Rochester
Church name St Margaret of Antioch
Register type
Baptism date 04 Mar 1804
Birth date 13 Jan 1804
Person forename Samuel
Father forename Samuel
Father surname BARHAM
Mother forename Caroline

For events that are transcribed but took place in the diocese of Rochester, you can normally find the acutal images on http://cityark.medway.gov.uk/
Select Parish Registers online from the column on the left, scroll down to the named church. After that find the record set/year range the event fell into. You will have to page through the images to find the one(s) you want, but it is sooo satisfying! Once found, right-click and 'Save Image As'

The image for Samuel's baptism is here http://tiny.cc/mvbi1x
