I definately will buy some credits to look at the original image as the age gap is quite big. Thankyou for all of your help though. If anything is found out then the information would be greatly appreciated.

Also, thankyou for the marriage details!

I would also suggest going back to 1891 as there maybe some children between the 17 yr old and the 13 yr old that have gone into service.... there's def a gap in ages...

You might want to buy the image and see if there has been any child deaths.

I think so,Tracey. On the 1901 you can see:
Civil parish: Hackney
Ecclesiastical parish: St Luke Homerton
County/Island: London
Country: England
Registration district: Hackney
Sub-registration district: South-East Hackney

Hmm, that is a bit strange. Also, if this family is correct, which it seems to be, there's a william and an elsie here which we didn't even know about!
I just googled Homerton as the change in birth places seemed to be odd, and it says that it is in fact in the east London Borough of Hackney.

Here's the 1911 census...

BAILEY, SILAS HEAD MARRIED M 42 LABOURER HACKNEY
BAILEY, WILLRELMMA WIFE MARRIED 18 F 41 LANCASHIRE PARISH BODLER
BAILEY, FLORENCE DAUGHTER SINGLE F 17 CONFECTIONARY PACKER HACKNEY
BAILEY, EDITH DAUGHTER SINGLE F 13 SCHOLAR HOMERTON
BAILEY, ROSE DAUGHTER SINGLE F 11 SCHOLAR HOMERTON
BAILEY, ELSIE DAUGHTER SINGLE F 7 SCHOLAR HOMERTON
BAILEY, WILLIAM SON SINGLE M 5 SCHOLAR HOMERTON

Address 5 BENN ST HOMERTON NE County London
District Hackney Subdistrict South East Hackney
Enumeration District 16 Parish St John at Hackney

While they are listed as living in Hackney, the children are listed as being born Homerton, which i believe is Cambridgeshire?

I think you may have to buy credits and see the original image to confirm the birth details.

I found Silas and family in 1911 and something didn't seem right about it..

I'll find the family again and post it.

Maureen, this is fantastic as everyone knew John Theobald as jack, so this does make sense. Also, the name Wilhemina has always rang bells with my mum, so this also makes perfect sense to be them, which is brilliant! Thankyou very much. So, next step is obviously to look for Silas and Wilheminas parents?

Judecar; thankyou for that! We were beginning to think that they never really got married! Also, it works out that she was pregnant when she got married as her daughter was born on the 6th of december 1920..so this could mean that they got married because of her pregnancy.

Also to everyone else, thankyou for your information! It's becoming very interesting. I have also been thinking about the placing of the Baileys and I think it could possibly be them as we don't actually have a birth certificate of Rosina, only her death certificate which says her place of birth being Hackey, could this be that her son who registered the death got the exact place of her birth wrong? Or am I clutching at straws?

Yup, looked at them in the 1901:

Name: Rosina Bailey
Age: 1
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1900
Relation: Daughter
Father's Name: Richard
(there seems to be no reason why mother Ellen isn't named)
Where born: St Luke, London, England

Civil parish: St Luke
> Registration district: Holborn

Richard Bailey 31 - Tinman/Box Maker
Ellen Bailey 30
Ellen Bailey 7
Agnes Bailey 6

No actual Hackney connection is the slight problem.

That's the one I was figuring too. There isn't a clear frontrunner in the 1901 census.
