hi Londonbelle.well , i went to the liabry today and had a look at the original census 1891 the only difference was Clarana she was Clara May born eng,
I then looked up charles Glide's birth .
Charles Harvey Glyde Jan 26th 1885 son of Thomas Glide and Eliza Angel both born England and charles Born st peter port.

Yes, I would be interested to know who Charles' mother is ..... if it is Eliza it could be that the surname might not be 'Crews' as it's possible that Eliza could also have been married before like Thomas.

I think that Thomas' first wife was Emma Mugford

Marriages Sep 1856
GLIDE Thomas Totnes 5b 326
MUGFORD Emma Totnes 5b 326

and that she died

Deaths Dec 1877
GLIDE Emma aged 43 Totnes 5b 128

it looks like maybe Mary A Crewe born 1831 Eng could be an aunty of Eliza Crewe married to Thomas Glide , giving the guernsey /uk link.
this has to be Sophies mother, same parish .

Hi ,sorry for the delay in replying ,yes that is my G/grandfathers family ,spelt the name wrong. i tried variations except RR and SS together also Albert ,albery no wonder i could not find him thanks,as the barrasins in Guernsey are all related i am 100% on that one,
Charles sounds likly too.Given all the mistakes the 1911 are making
So Charles is here in guernsey and making the follow up on census for The 2 Thomas's its looking Good
and charles is born here so i will try to find his birth and see if the mother matches up

I think I've found Charles in the 1911 census in Guernsey under surname GLIVE! He is with wife Elizabeth and daughter Winifred......do you think that is him?

HOUSEHOLD GLIVE CHARLES M 1887 24 Guernsey Guernsey
HOUSEHOLD GLIVE ELIZABETH F 1883 28 Guernsey Guernsey
HOUSEHOLD GLIVE WINIFRED F 1909 2 Guernsey Guernsey

Yes, I can only locate Thomas Jnr & Family in the 1911. Mind you I don't find the 1911 census very user friendly.....you can spend a small fortune trying to find people!!

Hi Sablon

Back again .......

What area of the country did Sophie Crewe come from?

With regards to Thomas Snrs age in the 1881 census if you look at the 1891 census he is 57 but then in the 1901 census he is only 60! In all the other censuses his year of birth is around 1834-1836 it is only in the 1901 census that it leaps up to 1841.

Just had a recap on eliza crewe.i think this is them in 1881 as there is a Crewe connection to another member of the family .Charles son of Thomas married Elizabeth Barassin in1907 Elizabeth was born in 1882 and was the sister of my g/grandfather Albert joseph Barassin.
A Sophie Annie Crewe was Alberts Godmother in 1881. last night i was thinking on this Crewe name and new i had seen it before ,so looked at my notes and found this sophie Crewe, too much of a coincidence ,dont you think
