HELLO
is there someone who can help me to find out if there is a russian and polish immigrants records list.....
i have been trying to find out when and how my grt granparents came here.
seems they were born in russia/poland.
frank ws a mincyinskus or similar born abt 1862
mary ws a podenski /yakob or similar born abt 1852ish
mary had two children joseph and mary..am not realy sure if they were franks. but when i find them on my grans birth cert istates they had changed their names to MIller.not sure if they did it here on the way?or after they arrived in uk

frank miller formally minskyinskas born 1862 russia.widow of mary formally b\pudinskustie/frank died 1926st josephs home for the poor in garngadhill lanark.mary died abt 1900 not sure at birth of ellen or just after...
his father was john minsyinskas deceased
mother was annie formally b/pu?inskutie
mary miller formally podenskey, on victorias brth 1896
mary miller formaly bodimski on williams cert 1897
so you see its not that easy...

my first thought is frank died in lanarkshire so you need records for Scotland. I do not have those. You could try on the records board if anyone is offering a look up.

In answer to your first question about migration, there are not many, if any passenger lists from Europe.

this website might give you some info

if the family was Jewish and fleeing the persecutions in Europe in 19 century it might be worth checking synagogue records in the area that they settled.

if they were naturalized in England then it might be worth checking the National archives records http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/catalogue/search.asp

hi
i did go to kew archives last year and found nothing the lady sed they may never of become british citz...
the only one of yr cens that could possibly be his parents is the last one.. will check against the cert i hv for frank.
how strange i guess alot of people fleeing from abroad came to uk and didnt become british.. makes me wonder why they left where they lived and when they came here....

If this 1901 census is correct then the family came over between 1889-1897

it is possible that the 1891 census of Francis Menchinskie is correct and he came over before the rest of the family

I presume that they were Jewish so it may be worth contacting Manchester Jewish museum http://www.mjm.org.uk/

hi yes i think thats frank and the kids in the cen u have given...
he was a tailor and journeyman do you wish to see my tree then you can see the info i have and the cens..?i didnt wna assum they were jewish but have been told before they may well have been......but i dont know for sure myself.he maywell have done but my gran ellen and victoria and william were born here ellen in wigan 1900 and willy and vicky in manchester lancs 1896/7
