Not sure of DOB for Charles (my grandad, I will have to check with my mum later - Mary) 1904 looks probable mind bearing in mind the years of Mary and Catherine's births. Also if any help he died around 1968/9.

Do you have any other info on Charles that may help?
if it is the correct dob for charles this could be his parents

I was born in Middlesbrough which was in Yorkshire till late 1960s. Then Teesside then Cleveland.

Port Clarence was a very small community reached from Middlesbrough by the Transporter Bridge

Port Clarence would have been in Durham at that time. Middlesbrough was Yorkshire and if you crossed the River Tees you were on County Durham.
Stockton was Durham
Google and you will see the bridge which featured in the movie Billy Elliot and the tv hit Auf Wiedersehen Pet.

To find bmds for the area use Teesvalley indexes. It gives names of spouse not just possible . It also has deaths but not sure how complete.

Catherine was born Jan 1908 so she should still be on the 1911 census surely??? I am led to believe that they lived in a small village called Port Clarence or Haverton Hill near Middlesbrough, Cleveland if this helps at all???

Peter, Cannot find the death of Mary, you stated June 1937 but you have also typed Cowley not Powley???
