Name: Eugen Catharozzi
Birth: abt 1825 - Gradesti, Austria
Residence: 1891 - Westminster, St James Westminster, London, England
**************************************************

He married Letitia Clark in 1865,I have their marriage and most of their kids baptisms and deaths of kids and themselves.
But there are a few puzzling things .
In 1881 this is Letitia

Name: Madeleine Cattarozza

She says she is a widow??and changed her name,
she dies soon after the census is taken.

1871

Birth: abt 1837 - Keswick, Cumberland, England
Residence: 1871 - Kensington, London, England

Can anyone find me Eugen in 1871/81 please?

Thank you ladies,I have all the deaths, births, baptisms, marriages and census on all the kids and Eugene and Letitia, but not the 1871 and 1881 census for Eugene.

And as I said in my Opening post
yes it is strange about her sayng she was a widow in 1881 and changing her first name to Madeline, havent worked that one out yet.

She died in 1881 straight after the census was taken, prob with the birth of Ernst/ernest.

Potty Report 13 Oct 2009 17:39

Eugene's occupation on the 1891 looks like Sec to private - can't read the next word but wonder if it could be family and perhaps he was travelling abroad during both the 71 and 81

FannyByGaslight

FannyByGaslight Report 13 Oct 2009 17:42

I couldnt read that bit either Potty, but on 1891 he says he is retired?
And he was a courier on his 1865 marriage.

FannyByGaslight

FannyByGaslight Report 13 Oct 2009 17:50

No, got mixed up with things there Potty,I must have seen it as retired on 1901,not that I can find THAT at the mo.
going to feed all now back later.

FannyByGaslight

FannyByGaslight Report 13 Oct 2009 18:25

Thank you Mel..
Better leave the heavy lifting to someone else for a while,,what you done then?

Also I cant find him in 1901 NOW,that will teach me not to print things off straight away.
I have a feeling I found him under Rugen somewhere, but cant remember where or what,,,,,,dont you just hate this old age creeping up on you!

I don't think all the looking up we did the other day has helped! I really enjoyed that one.

I was up the top of a fruit picking ladder on the gallery on Sunday picking some high up damsons. OH is away in London and me looking after mum 85! Now mum looking after me. Yesterday she had to put my hair up for me because I can't lift my arm up. My hair is about nearly 4 foot long. Also having to use mouse in left hand.

FannyByGaslight

FannyByGaslight Report 13 Oct 2009 18:47

I love Damsons, fresh, pie, jam ,wine, any old way they come, but you wouldnt catch me up a ladder, petrified of heights, that and deep water.

Anyone found eugen yet?

I can find strangers/ peoples "losts"but not my own or my friends!

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 13 Oct 2009 19:09

JaneyCanuck Report 13 Oct 2009 19:30

Mel!

It took me a while to find the email that confirmed my dim memory ... a distant cousin in Canterbury told me over two years ago that she'd found a report of the brother-in-law of my grx2 grandfather's first wife (not my grx2 grandmother) dying:

"in 1892, after falling out of his damson tree, breaking his arm and getting lockjaw!"

My next question was: what's a damson tree? (Plums, I think?)

So -- be careful!

FannyByGaslight

FannyByGaslight Report 13 Oct 2009 19:39

Small wild plums, now been Domesticated?, Janey, rather sharp in taste,,YUMMeeeeeeeeeeee.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 13 Oct 2009 19:47

giggle giggle. Axel was just another strange name! My damson trees are Meriweather Damsons and they are bigger than the ones you buy in the shops. Lovely just off the tree when ripe. I was hoping to put some in some gin for Christmas.

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 13 Oct 2009 20:05

How about this one in 1871?

Name: E C
Age: 45
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1826
Relation: Patient
Where born: Austria
condition as to marriage: married
occupation: merchant

Civil parish: Stoke Next Guildford

Lea Jale (?) Lane

Head of household is widow, licensed joint proprietor lunatic asylum, and there are only five patients, the other four considerably older men, all rather bourgeois it seems.

FannyByGaslight

FannyByGaslight Report 13 Oct 2009 20:08

Mother has that sort,I got her the tree some years back, hope it fruits before she pops off.

I thought you put Sloes in gin for christmas.

I dont think you should if you fall over just PICKING them, getting PICKLED on them will make things worse.

FannyByGaslight

FannyByGaslight Report 13 Oct 2009 20:14

I will go with him Janey as I did wonder about him, although on image it says born Australia
he must have been around sometimes as he had kids with Letitia between 1871 and 1881 didnt he.
I have searched for hours through the incoming and outgoing passengers also, not a hair of his head have I seen.

Ok ,if that is possibly him in 1871 where is he in 81,,please....

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 13 Oct 2009 20:20

Crap! I looked at everything else on the image and somehow managed not to see that! Even though I've actually been searching using Australia too, it having been done in reverse to my Monck uncles in one record, born Australia, Ancestry decided it was Austria ... so hey, it's possible. ;)
