Haha, I assure you Rugby is in Warwickshire - I've been living there for 18 years! Looks like Ancestry messed up a bit there. I did have a look on Ancestry.com last time I went to the library, but I must have only looked in Warwickshire.

That's him - thanks alot for all your time, it really has helped. You are a star!!!

Could these be yours?

Yes, from the information on the census they look like my great great grandparents.

It's intriguing about William Young being born at sea, do you have any ideas why? Possibly immigrants?

Thanks again!

William and Jessie Shepherd would be my candidates as well, but PLEASE get Henry's birth certificate first!!

Just a note of caution on William's age on the 1911...it might not be 38. It's pretty smudged or written over. The first number is a 3,but I'm not positive about the last one.

Thanks alot!

Yes, I'll definately confirm Henry's date of birth when I order his certificate before I put anything down on the family tree. I'll also have a look into William's birth at sea.

So now we look for William young 1876ish?

Lloyd

Lloyd Report 28 Jan 2010 00:26

Hi all,

I've got Henry's birth certificate and confirmed that those are his parent. I also have his parent's marriage certificate.

I'm now trying to find more about William Young, who was listed on the 1911 census as 'born at sea' in around 1876 (give or take a year). I have his marriage certificate, and all I know is his father was called Thomas Young and he was deceased when they got married.

Many Thanks!
Lloyd

Thanks alot!

I have looked on Ancestry.com, but couldn't find them. Perhaps I'll have another (more thorough) look. The problem is, I only have William's name and his father's name, and I'm not sure when his father died (so it may only be William on the census, and 'William Young' isn't exactly a rare name).

I will search more tomorrow Lloyd,if nobody else comes up with anything, but I truly need to go for my beauty sleep now..

If you are in Britain you must work nights or be an insomniac !

Oh yes,you live Rugby way...

Lloyd

Lloyd Report 28 Jan 2010 00:51

Haha, yes even I'm getting tired now - if I have chance tomorrow I'll pop into the library and have a further look on ancestry.com at the censuses.

FannyByGaslight Report 28 Jan 2010 11:26

As he says on 1911 that he was born "at sea" ,
(and upon further inspection of that original his age is very blurred so I am going with his 1876 age on marriage,)
As his father was a labourer I think they may have come from Ireland, but wherever they came from I would think they would be in England on 1881 census.
Struggling here but I will soldier on !

Thanks, and I'll see if I can find him on any censuses on Ancestry.com. They may have come from Ireland, but the other side of my family is Northern Irish and so I would have thought Henry (Henry's daughter-in-law's parents were Northern Irish) would have said if his family were Irish. Although maybe Henry didn't know.

Thanks alot, there are quite a few William Youngs with a father named Thomas Young around the London area so unfortunately I'm not sure which one (if any) is my ancestor. I have however found Jessie Shepherds family on there.
