Hi Jeanie,

Hope the greyhound is ok? I've been looking and can't see a burials for any of them.

I'll look for any remarriages.

Sorry Dee. I'll have to to off-line. Elderly greyhound has a problem.

Have posted another item on Briaris thread. Hope I'm not keeping you too long over the half hour you intended.

Hope to 'chat' with you again some time.

Regards
Jeanie

Hope you're there Dee. Here goes:

Groombridge Eliza Harriet born 1846 - died 1900? Husband died quite young. She may have remarried. bmd just says 1900 Eliza Groombridge. Maybe Parish Register would show more?

Groombridge Samuel Henry born 1867 - died 1933?

Groombridge Martha Emmeline Eliza - Possibly around 1945

Groombridge Ernest Alfred born 1894

Groombridge Emma Beatrice born about 1897

Mead Elizabeth Frances born about 1902 last known living in Kidbrooke - not sure if this is within scope of records - and may have re-married and become E.F. Sumner

Groombridge May Elizabeth - February 1964 I think. Burial Streatham, Wandsworth. I'd just had a baby and been quite ill as a consequence. Actual details forgotten.

Hi Margaret in Canada.

Have checked bmd because just noticed Florence was shown as born in Newington but pretty sure I have the right one because I obviously know her married name - records as under:

Births Jun 1898
Groombridge Florence Amelia Lambeth

Marriages Sep 1916
Groombridge Florence A Hall Southwark

Thought I found some births under Keen before his death - I'll have another look at bmd now.

I'm pausing for noontime meal. (I'm in Canada) I did look for children of first marriage but couldn't find any.

Replied to one without realising there were more. Yes I did know she was a widow. Couldn't find details of her marriage at first because I was looking for it to a Groombridge. Really mystified because I knew my father said her maiden name was Bond. Finally got Marriage Certificate for Samuel Henry and was very surprised to see the name she was married in was Keen until I saw she was widowed. Thanks for her first marriage record. Wasn't sure what husband's first name was. Gosh I see you've got even more than I asked for. Did know her father was dead.

Was going to raise another thread to see if she had children by her first marriage (probably not surviving) because I'm minus 3 on number I was told she had. Will that be necessary or could you do that for me as well as "you cannot stop". Thanks so much.

Yes I do have the 1901 census. That is the first thing I found when 1901 census went on line. Didn't do anything else on the family tree then. Not until last year did I start looking further into it. Got a prod to do it when I saw Who Do You Think You Are - telling to ask Granny for info before it was too late. Doing this for my 3 grandchildren originally but became quite fascinated at what you can find out. Sure I know more about my mother's family than she ever did!

Wonder if it was the fact that Florence was the only one registered in Lambeth is why she is the one you cannot find.

OK. Understood. One of the only four of my father's siblings I knew - so I know she existed. Probably some sort of transcription error. I've found name transcribed as Greenbridge, Grumbridge, Grombridge and all sorts!

Thanks for all your efforts.

Sorry, just can't find Florence Amelia. I've tried all kinds of combinations even just using first names. No luck.

Dozey

Dozey Report 21 Mar 2010 13:26

Was there a problem with Florence Amelia? or did you just miss it because I asked so much of you. I do feel bad sometimes requesting all this info but as a pensioner I cannot afford one of these subscriptions where you can get hold of everything.

Think they were on my original posting with deaths registered in the same quarter. Also a John (name of Martha's father) who also died young. Understandable - there were quite a lot of names. Do know that my grandmother had at least one set of twins that did not survive

MargaretM Report 21 Mar 2010 13:04

Missed these 2 because father's name was given as Samuel Robert:

Name: Martha Emmeline Eliza Groombridge
Record Type: Baptism
Date: 15 Jun 1892
Father's Name: Samuel Robert Groombridge
Mother's Name: Martha Emmeline Eliza Groombridge
Parish: Christ Church, Camberwell
Borough: Southwark
County: Middlesex
(No birthdate)

There's another entry for Samuel Robert giving birthdate 28 May 1892. Martha Emmeline Eliza is next on list but no birthdate given for her. (Twins?)
