Tracey, that is interesting. I've only ever seen it on a Workhouse death, where the informat "Took the body for burial".

Wot about this second marriage anyone?

Not sure how a death cert could state place of burial - if you think about the process, the funeral comes afterwards (well, hopefully!!).

Starr said this earlier.

DEA NO MARGARET BORN A FORSYTH MARRIED A ROGERS THEN MARRIED A MAHER ITS CONFUSING FOR ME COS MARGARET DAUGHTER ELIZABETH MARRIED HER STEP DADS SON

This is obviously the other marriage found by Meg but Starr must have the name wrong for her grandmother's marriage.

Marriages Sep 1932 (>99%)
Maher Thomas F Rogers Liverpool 8b 402
Rogers Margaret A Maher Liverpool 8b 402

OK,

Maybe i have been lucky.... It's in the qualification column.

3 say 'Qualification' ...causing the body to be cremated and 1 says, causing the body to be buried @......

I suppose the burial one has maybe already had a prebought plot?

Dates on the certs vary, all are the portrait style cert.

Sorry, missed that important bit.

So Margaret Ann Forsyth/Rogers married Thomas F Maher in Liverpool in 1932.

WayneTracey

WayneTracey Report 20 Mar 2010 20:41

I'm confused now...are we saying the death is that of the son in law and not the father?

Tracey x

Madmeg

Madmeg Report 20 Mar 2010 20:46

Yes Tracey, that would seem to be the case.

Death of Thomas F Maher, possibly, but there are others that might fit:

England & Wales, Death Index: 1916-2005
about Thomas F Maher
Name: Thomas F Maher
Death Registration Month/Year: 1967
Age at death (estimated): 74
Registration district: Liverpool North
Inferred County: Lancashire
Volume: 10d
Page: 395

If Starr knows his occupation or any other details, to get this death cert, the best bet would be the local register office. Give them lots of details about possible informants and see if they can help.

Ann

Ann Report 20 Mar 2010 20:47

have found a birth for william F Maher mothers maiden name rogers born 1Q 1937 liverpool N

so this must be the son margarets daughter married. Still cant find a marriage for Margaret ann to a William francis Maher thoughwas Margaret a informant on the death certificate for William

These are the potrrait style death certs.

I have no idea when they were introduced.

WayneTracey

WayneTracey Report 20 Mar 2010 20:56

Thomas's death will not show any relevance to whether his dad or his step mother were still alive unless they were named on the cert.

How do we know his father was still alive when he died in 1974?

It is his father you are interested in right?

Madmeg

Madmeg Report 20 Mar 2010 20:56

Tracey, I've got several of the portrait style. There's nothing that says Qualification, or indicates wot happens to the body.

I'm going to pm you.
