This looks Like our Hannah.

The reason I am going back this far is that often cousins are given the same names I E named after father/ grandfather. Sometimes stepchildren take on the names of stepfather and sometimes especially in lancashire People are given two names but are known by the middle name. So worth investigating around the problem since the answer is not immediately apparent,

Do you have William + Catherin's marriage cert??

I was just wondering if you could compare William's signature on there with the one on 1911 census??

George was listed as son 1901 to widow hannah.
Could be that he is Thomas's stepson. I find often in laws etc listed as lodgers

Just come through now !

Weird !
Somebody's lying, but why ?
Or did they start taking the census early ? (Prior to Nov. 1910).
Thanks for sending it.
Baffling !
Houston didn't have a problem compared to this lot !

Hi.
Yes I have Hannah's birth cerrt.1896. Parish of St. Peters Preston. Father William Goodey, General labourer. Mother Catherine Goodey formerlyTommony.

I have also closely checked William's death cert and it is not a photocopy but is hand written. I wonder if the date has been mistranscribed ? Mind you, it says age 50.

Just manning the computer whilst Michael is out.

He will get back to you later I am sure.

Many thanks.

FannyByGaslight Report 2 Apr 2010 14:35

Send me your email Michael and I will send you the original.

If you are totally certain that this is the 1911 with your Grandmother Hannah 1896 on it then maybe the death you have is someone else?
I dont see how though.

Just a thought.
Do you have Hannahs birth cert to be certain you have the correct family,or some other way of being sure?
I dont mean that to sound rude but we all make mistakes ,even the best of us ,like me..:))

1911 census with William who has supposed to have died, was signed by William the same William who filled it in.
If you compere the William on top line and signature, and it definately says he was born Preston.

Very Weird.

Maryb

It also says 6 children 5 still alive and 1 died.

Just a thought.

Could it be that on the original document a 10 has been mistaken for the figure 6?
