Ann, thanks, yes have tried all the suggestions already offered. She doesn't seem to exist before her marriage in 1922 that's why I wondered about id when marrying. The address given at marriage ties in with a James Henry Foulger, his military record has him enlisting from the same address. His father was James Foulger but he died in 1940 and Felicie has her father as deceased on marriage cert. This James Foulger had 6 daughters but none of them called Felicie and all of them traceable through their marriages. I wonder she was a niece of James and Florence or maybe brought up in their household but not their birth child. In which case I guess I won't ever get any further. So very frustrating. If you can think of anyway round it please let me know. I have found a "Baby Foulger" on the 1901 census in Cambridge born to a Carry Foulger - Widow, with two elder daughters. there was a May Foulger registered in Cambridge just after the census in 1901 so I might send for the birth cert and see if the father is named. Long shot but am clutching at any straws now. Imposible to believe there can be no record of my grandmother before her marriage.

Does anyone know what evidence of identity you had to provide to marry in 1922. Did you have to produce a birth cert as you do now? Thanks in advance

So your Grandmother died in 1961 aged 61 years old.

Is this correct?

So there is also Florence Rachel Foulger born approx 1896 and Justina born approx 1897 to James and Florence.

have you traced them?

Hi Sally,

I can't see a birth for Felecie, so could she have been born under a different name?

have nudged your original posting up for you - would be better to continue using that one rather than start another - GR do not allow duplicates on the same family

Felecie Foulger is my grandmother. On her marriage cert her father is shown as James Henry Foulger deceased. This is 1922 so I decided to look in the military section on Ancestry to see if he had either served or been killed in WW1. Her father does not come up but a James Henry Foulger is shown as enlisting in 1918. The address given is 42 Rushton Street Hoxton. The address my grandparents gave as their residence at time of marriage in 1922 is 42 Rushton Street Hoxton. I've downloaded the census for 1911 and the James Henry shown enlisting in the army is there, his father is James Henry and the mother is Florence Foulger. However there is no Felecie Foulger shown. She states her age on the marriage cert as 21 so would have been born around 1901/2. There is a daughter Grace Beatrice born in 15/10/1899 and a Daisy Agnes born in 1905 but no Felecie born in 1901/2. Could this be a coincidence. Could one of the daughters have lied about her name and age at marriage or is this family nothing to do with my grandmother. Another coincidence is my grandmothers first daughter had the name Grace. If anyone can give any suggestions, pointers or help I'd be very grateful
Thanks
Sally
