Spruce

we know you're trying to find Doreen

we're trying to help you

It is quite possible that she and Charles did not divorce

It is quite possible that both of them, one of them, or neither of them married a second time, bigamously

We think that one of the ways that we MIGHT be able to find Doreen for you is by searching on deaths on ancestry.co.uk by entering "Doreen" and her actual date of birth

That has nothing to do with finding Charles

so please .... if you want us to help you .......... go to your files, find her date of birth, and post it on here

one or more of us will then see if we can find a death for a Doreen with that DoB that sounds feasible.

If you have access to ancestry, you could of course do the search yourself.

Brilliant Spruce

It would be good to find her. I have a niggle she might have died under her husbands name.

It was quite common for the hubby to leave and for the left wife never to marry again.

I'll wait for the exact date. But she may still be with us.

My dreadful uncle (don't ask) only died last month and he was born 1911. My great aunt May lived to 106.

Madmeg, there were two of 'em in Crickhowell in that quarter - the other with mother Hughes. ;)

Now searched all plain Doreens from A-Z. Zilch. She is either still alive, died after 2005, isn't a plain Doreen, emigrated, or changed her name to Mary.

Must go to bed, daughter is texting early tomorrow with crucial exam results.

Madmeg Report 17 Jun 2010 02:40

Oh Christine (of Yawn fame) is following you all around, and is now Abbey, I must have missed that. Well, she won't be the first to change her name, will she? There are at least two of us on this thread who've done that, for different reasons. Without reading all her threads, I haven't a clue why she is being so defensive/sarcastic/attacking, but I hate this kind of situation. Have sent her a pM but from what others have said, I am not likely to gain anything from doing so.

Hi Tracey,
don't know if you are still willing to do look ups, missed you yesterday, if so I would be grateful if you could find Maggie Nicol m.s.McCluskey b. c1871 in Glasgow on the 1891 census or 1901 census, she was married in November 1891 so she would still be McCluskey when the 1891 was taken.
In 1901 she would be with her husband Peter Nicol, his occupation was flint glass blower, probably living in the Bridgeton area of Glasgow,
any help with both census would be great

Thank you
jean

Hi Tracey not sure if you are still doing the look ups but I have a request I have been trying for ages now to trace David Carcary c1776 Comeston/St Cyrus, Kincardineshire, Scotland (surname variations Carchary, Carcharie) he married Elizabeth Youngston b1775 -d12/11/1859 they got married 5/02/1792 in Laurencekirk, Kincardineshire, Scotland. He never married Margaret Edward c1778 but they had a son Robert Carcary b15/10/1798 - c1852 he was born in Saint Cyrus, Kincardine, Scotland who I am a decandant of I would really love to find out who David's Parents were and if he had any siblings. Any help would be appreciated

Jean

Having looked at your Maggie's marriage cert it appears she married out of 2 Bowling Green Terrace.

1891 Scotland Census

Name: Maggie McCluskey
[Maggie Caw]
Age: 18
Estimated birth year: abt 1873
Relationship: Daur (Daughter)
Father's Name: James
Gender: Female
Where born: Glasgow, Lanark:
Registration Number: 644/1
Registration district: Bridgeton
Civil parish: Glasgow Barony
County: Lanarkshire
Address: 2 Bowling Green Terrace
Occupation: Gen: Lab:
ED: 69
Household schedule number: 19
Line: 19
Roll: CSSCT1891_241

Her fathers name of James is incorrect, as is the correction of her name to Caw.

There are many names on the list, so i am not too sure what 2 Bowling Green Terrace was.

Maggie's parents are listed immediately above her.

John McCluskey 58
Isabella McCluskey 51
Maggie McCluskey 18

~~~~~~
The whole transcription is incorrect. This is John her father!
Name: John McCluskey
Age: 58
Estimated birth year: abt 1833
Relationship: Housemaid < ????
Where born: Ireland
Registration Number: 644/1
Registration district: Bridgeton
Civil parish: Glasgow Barony
County: Lanarkshire
Address: 2 Bowling Green Terrace
Occupation: Carter
....... and Isabella her mother.
Name: Isabella McCluskey
Age: 51
Estimated birth year: abt 1840
Relationship: Wife
Spouse's name : James
Gender: Female
Where born: Ireland
Registration Number: 644/1
Registration district: Bridgeton
Civil parish: Glasgow Barony
County: Lanarkshire
Address: 2 Bowling Green Terrace
~~~~~~
There needs to be quite a bit of adjustment done to this transcription. Poor James Caw has about 10 names for his wives lol.

Source Citation: Parish: Glasgow Barony; ED: 69; Page: 5; Line: 18; Roll CSSCT1891_241; Year: 1891.

~~~~~~
Incidentally,
Maggie died 30 Apr 1927 aged 54, of Pneumonia. 157 Avenue Street, Glasgow. Peter was still alive and registered the death.
