That would make Mary born slightly prior to the marriage?

That is the only way a Mort child could have had your mother's cousins as all the other children were O'neill's?

Nice find Astra.

She might be with the missing Mort Grandmother.... we need to find them in 1901. My best guess is they have been mistranscibed, or Jane has remarried and Mary J her Grandaughter has accidentally been given the new name also?

yeah that's right but i think the enumerator got a bit excited with Ireland as Mary Ann was born in Liverpool, 12 Brunswick Place, according to her birth cert

WayneTracey

WayneTracey Report 17 Jul 2010 19:59

Mary Ann is most def listed as being born ireland, could Thomas and Jane have married there?

well there lies another mystery, i've not been able to find a marriage, but they were Mary Ann's parents

WayneTracey

WayneTracey Report 17 Jul 2010 19:48

So Thomas Mort was married to Jane Redhead?

cagsie Report 17 Jul 2010 19:36

hey, i've not cut and run - just assumed you'd all gone for dinner or something better

good luck with trying to find maternal grandmother !! it's been bugging my for ages

Thomas died in Mar 1884 - he collapsed in the police station after visiting Jane who'd been done for D&D

I have the birth certs of 3 of their children and all have mmn of Jane Redhead
in 1891 Jane Mort is at 22 Molyneux St, then seems to disappear into thin air

have a thread on it, separate to this one, had given up that search for a while:

john's parents both died by 1901
mary ann's father also dead but don't know about her mother jane - can't find her after 1891, either in census or death or remarriage (for info in case it helps she was born jane redhead 1845 bolton - can't find her marrige to thomas mort, but that's a whole other mystery!!)

no other known family members have got any "anomoly" living with them in either 1901 or 1911 - I'd already thought of that one !!!

cagsie

cagsie Report 17 Jul 2010 18:49

WayneTracey

WayneTracey Report 17 Jul 2010 18:46

WayneTracey - the 2 youngest had both died by 1901, I have copies from the reg office via colleague's friend proving this

WayneTracey

WayneTracey Report 17 Jul 2010 18:40
