Mary Report 31 Jul 2010 17:05

The census you found with William 1795 James 1836 and elizabeth.

James married Isabella Hardman in 1881 they had neice Elizabeth Ann Atherton born @ 1881 Preston.
As far as I can see she is the daughter of William Atherton born Chaigley 1830,he married ellen beesley but they are only together on 1861 census.
Ellen is also Mary Ellen she was born Woodplumpton Lancs 1832 and died 1891.
On `87`/81/91 it says she is still married !!.

Anyway it is William 1830 who is brother to the James 1836 and Elizabeth 1823.
A tree with these people on say they had a brother thomas born @ 1821 but married a Ellen.

lancashireAnn Report 31 Jul 2010 23:01

you are right that freebmd is usually the best site to use but Lancashire has some good sites all of its own. Not all records are on there but where they are it is v useful as it gives info which can't be found anywhere else

the 2 sites are for future ref:

lancashirebmd.org.uk

and lan-opc.org.uk

some of the info that your helpers have given you has come from these 2 sites
