Nice find Maureen !

And there was me, thinking badly of 'poor Campbell' for running off and it was her who seems to have been 'the naughty one'.

Can't get on the BMD site, because so much is happening here, and I don't want to miss anything.
Thanks to all of you. My wife is jumping up and down.

Glenn

Glenn Report 30 Aug 2010 09:59

My wife's mother always said that her mothers name was Melson, and she did say that her mother had been married before she married William Augustus. Confusing!!

ChristineinPortugal

ChristineinPortugal Report 30 Aug 2010 09:56

You need William and Emma's marriage cert to find out if she had been married before as on the children's births her maiden name is Powell.

The marriage cert should also give her father's name.

Christine

brummiejan Report 30 Aug 2010 09:55

Powell must be her maiden name as the children have that recorded on the birth entries.

TootyFruity Report 30 Aug 2010 09:53

It says in the WW1 record that she was a spinster when they married so Powell is her maiden name

EDIT: Date of Marriage 03.06.1916 Registry Office, Hammersmith

Glenn

Glenn Report 30 Aug 2010 09:51

Great Tooty Fruity. Emma Powell must have been her first married name, because Melson is correct for her maiden name. We know she was married before William.

TootyFruity

TootyFruity Report 30 Aug 2010 09:49

On the WW1 record image it says that he married Emma Powell.

Glenn

Glenn Report 30 Aug 2010 09:47

Everything is coming back to my wife now.
William Augustus Parry born 1881. We now know where.
His wife Emma. The name Powell does not ring bells, but Melson is definitely correct.
Going on to the site mentioned to try and find information on their children!
Also Alison has Williams parents and children, but there were 3 boys all old fashioned names, and Albert was one of them.

Thanks so much all of you.
