The only marriage I can find for a Owen Callaghan in Co Tyrone is to a Ann Mckenna 18th April 1871 Aughnacloy Roman Catholic Church in the parish of Carnteel, Clogher.

There 2 marriages for a James McGonigle in Strabane

1st one to a Margaret McGovern 29th April 1862 Strabane Civil Registrars Office parish of Camus-juxta-Mourne Strabane
2nd one for a Catherine McLaughlin 3rd April 1864 Strabane R.C. church parish Leckpatrick / Urney Strabane

Leckpatrick /Urney is the same parish as the marriage for James & Mary Ann

Wendy Report 17 Sep 2010 15:57

The second marriage to Catherine looks good as it's the same area. I will have to get both certs for Owen and James.

How could I find out the names of the children off children born to the mothers?

Thank you
Wendy

Wendy do you know roughly what year Mary Anne was born? as it would determine which marriage Mary Anne was born into.

Wendy

Wendy Report 17 Sep 2010 21:19

Sorry I was away from the PC phone call from my brother.

I do not know when Mary Ann was born but on her marriage cert it says she was off free age. So I thought about 1878.

Maura Report 18 Sep 2010 16:33

Sorry Wendy I have drawn a blank with James & Mary births, I can't find them in the 1901 Irish census, have you found them in the 1911 English census?

Wendy

Wendy Report 18 Sep 2010 18:09

Hi Maura. No I have not found them on 1911 cencus. But I know where they were through my husbands cousin, and from his fathers birth cert (1905) and the other siblings born in Mickleton-in Teesdale, North Yorkshire.

Thank you once again Maura you are a star. :))

Wendy if you have James & Mary's marriage cert, try contacting the church they married in, sometimes the church has recorded both parents names in the church records.

Good luck

Thank you so very much Maura. The family thought that James had left his family In Middleton, but it seems he did not. Still have to work out how Mary Ann ended up alone in Consett, Durham. Still that will have to wait for another time.

James was my husbands father, he died when he was 11 so all this is off great help to him in finding his family.

Have a good evening and thank you once again.

Wendy :))) (((hugs)))
