Kathleen Report 4 Nov 2010 00:01

Well I have tried the LDS and free BMD for a William Henry, a William Henry Richard about 1840 in Herefordshire and came up with nothing, In 1881 census he said he was born Heriford and gave his age as 42 which would have made it 1839? what am I doing wrong.

Kathleen Report 3 Nov 2010 23:21

Hi, well the cert came today, Williams father was William Henry Richard Kynessley Bevan, what a name! Anyway having taken a look at all the info you have sent me I think father William went by the name of Henry, as it seems he is on the census with wife Mary (Byard) in the 1881 census. Mary is also on the 1901/1911 census with son William. You have already found the marriage of William Bevan to Mary Byard, I wonder if anyone can find the birth, or 1871/61 census for William Henry Richard Kynessley, which would also have his parents and any other family. Unless he was named Henry in census in which case you probably already posted the census, I am in a bit of a muddle with this one.

Ozibird you are ace at this what do you think?

All views welcome

1851: is as I have above but the folio number is very blurred so it may be incorrectly transcribed. Mary is transcribed as ByRard c1839.

Hope this helps.

Think I am now correct in saying that the marriage on free bmd for

Mary Byard in Birmingham is to a
Richard Henry W K Bevan
Mar Q 1877 6 d 68

Maybe another name add to the pot and possible verification of the 1841 census found by Ozibird

??

best wishes

Vanessa

edit - I see now that this had been found by Ozibird previously . Looks like a good option Kathy.

My only other thought ( unless I have missed something ) is could Henry have been married before? It seems quite old for both of them to still be single ? I guess the cert would answer this .

Kathleen

Kathleen Report 26 Oct 2010 16:27

Hi Vanessa, you seen to have found a bit of a query, it seems odd 2 Bevan households at the same address but diff names? I wonder if they were brothers both with a son called Henry, until I can go further back I cant understand it. I have sent you a PM. Still if any one can help sort this out I would be grateful

Vanessa Report 24 Oct 2010 08:30

Hi , Kathleen , just looking at all this again this morning and hope I am on the right lines ??

In 1891 it would appear the Bevan couple at Glover st are the parents of the William whose birth cert you have got ? William and Sarah.

In 1881 you have Henry and Mary on Glover st with their William.

Is it a coincidence or could they be connected ? Bevan is not that common although I know we must not just jump to conclusions.

I believe it is possible to look at consecutive pages of the census on Ancestry and I was just wondering if you looked up and down Glover st 1891 you might find Mary / Henry and William.

Not fully worked this through so hope someone can help out / dismiss it !

best wishes

Hi Kathleen, I did a basic search on free bmd and x referenced with the elec roll. I have found a family after 1911 who seem to fit with your couple, William and Jessie . They had 5 sons . I am going to send their names in a PM as some may still be alive??

Best wishes

Hi Vanessa, how kind of you, yes I would love to have any info on the family, I know they had Aurther in 1915 but not much else about them.

Thanks a lot

Hi Kathleen, looking at the Birmingham elec roll 1930 is it possible William and Jessie went on to have a son with middle name Kynnersley? I know this is forward in time rather than back which is where you want to go but if this info is needed then let me know and I will post it

best wishes

Thanks to all for your input, let me review what I think adds up.
Arthur James Bevan b1915 his father was called William Bevan who married Jessie Bloomer.

Here they are in 1911

I dont have a1891 census

BEVAN, Henry Head Married M 42 1839 General Carter Hereford Herefordshire
BEVAN, Mary Wife Married F 43 1838 Ashby de la Zouch Leicestershire
BEVAN, William H Son Single M 1 1880 Birmm Warwickshire

The fact that his mothers birth place is the same in all the above census makes me believe I am on the right path.

I don't have the marriage cert for William who married Jessie Bloomer, if I send for that it will at least confirm Williams fathers name.

But I believe I am looking for Henry Bevan who married Mary? I haven't had much luck finding the marriage.

I am keeping all your posts on record just in case they fall into place at some time.

I cant thank you enough all for your help.

Kathy
