O WOW..This is still going then,I felt sure it and the others would have been deleted and it seems people are taking advantage of the generous free SP lookups then, but what a shame that some seem to be taking ages for a reply, never mind, better late than never I say.

Good idea Janet

I think a lot of us have been pm'ing posters on Help Clinic, offering help and advice!

but yours sound a little more drastic.

Would it also be an idea to pm the starry helper???

OR even GR themselves.

I give it a week! I admire the dedication and generousity of the "ones with stars" but this is soooooooo ill conceived. If I was new to genealogy and had just joined GR I would assume that the "Help clinic" was the first place to look. However, when I clicked on it all I'd be presented with is queries about SP. Fine if I had Scots ancestors, but not so good if I didn't.

I have seen some threads on there that I would be willing to help with but GR obviously think us mere mortals shouldn't involve ourselves. I have also been quite alarmed at the advice offered to one particular person. Actually, i will pm the person involved as the advice she was given could have serious repercusions.

My Frederick has a tick too- but not resolved - no response from GR and the clinic posted that ticks cannot be removed

Just another c@ck up -

Katie

Complain about that as well

as I read the instructions originally only YOU can put the tick when it is completed to YOUR satisfaction

My pos has a tick too. It's not resolved - they just can't find anything. There possibly isn't anything to find but the tick makes it look like a success story.

As far as I know Katie it is only you or GR that can delete your thread...unless of course the starry ones have been given the ability to delete things on Clinic board of course..!

Kath.
I see that you now have a tick beside your post to say that it is resolved, did you put it there or someone else?
Did you find your way to being able to complain to GR ok?

Katie

Katie Report 22 Nov 2010 19:17

FBG I will. I thought only me or GR could delete it, and it wasn't me!

FannyByGaslight

FannyByGaslight Report 22 Nov 2010 18:57

Send in a complaint as well Katie.
Ask who deleted it and why?

I still like Glaswegian men James...when they are in Glasgee and I am in Carmarthen..;))

FannyByGaslight Report 22 Nov 2010 18:55

Click on HELP on the top right hand of the page and you will see how you can.

I see you have now got an answer on Clinic AFTER saying you already have the info needed from someone else.

Do give the management the thread that you have on Clinic to look at,so dont delete it whatever you do..

Good luck

My Help Clinic thread disappeared this afternoon! It was there at lunchtime but I've just got back from work...and it's gone. Nothing much else seems to have changed though.

Well, I had my post on the help clinic for 9 hours and no acknowlegement/help whatsoever.
Finally added to TTF board & WayneTracey very kindly looked the details up for me using her own credits.

No wonder you cant understand them if they come from Merthyr James, all that coal dust still stuck in their throats from the mines..!
Now the beautiful farming smells of Carmarthenshire is a different matter.
I understand Scots accent ,married a Glaswegian many years ago,but I sent him back as a bad buy ..;)
Got myself a nice Welsh model instead..

FannyByGaslight Report 22 Nov 2010 17:26

Well James, that smacks of racism to me,why can not the rest of GB get the same deal,or in fact overseas people I wonder..?
Just because I live in Wales does not mean I may not have Scots ancestry in my lines somewhere!

The new board

HELP CLINIC

look above the listing of Commmunity Boards on the left of your screen

Big white star, with NEW across it and Help Clinic by the side

Click on the Star

Only about 6 helpers on there, volunteered themselves to help, given yellow stars

they can use GR, fmp and Scotlands People to answer requests.

may as well get some free help on SP while you can!
