ta, jax.

The real Thomasina in 1881:

Hannah M. Pile 38 - wife, married (husband not at home)
Frances A. Pile 18
Margaret S. Pile 16
Winefred Pile 14
Lillin Pile 11 -- it says Lillia
Louisa Pile 9
Thomastina Pile 6
Charles T. Pile 4
Hethel M. Pile
Ann Goodall 62 - mother-in-law (i.e. of male HOH)

Civil Parish: Leeds
County/Island: Yorkshire

The three girls in question all born Sunderland.

So it's back to the drawing board for 1901.

One of the reasons it is wise to give *all* info about a person, like parents' names ... to verify things like this.

Births Jun 1869
Pile Lilia Jane Sunderland 10a 538

Births Mar 1872
PILE Laura Elizabeth Sunderland 10a 587

http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/cgi/search.pl

1881

Name: Louisa Pile
[Laura E Pile]
Age: 9
Estimated birth year: abt 1872
Relation: Daughter
Mother's name: Hannah M. Pile
Gender: Female
Where born: Sunderland, Yorkshire, England

You hadn't searched for the births ... the 1881 census is an error apparently. Someone has corrected the name at Ancestry. If you don't subscribe, would you like a message passed on? PM me your email address and I'll do it, probably tomorrow.

JaneyCanuck Report 16 Dec 2010 02:08

1881 -- Thomasina's place of birth matches the 1901, Bebside:

James Pyle 37
Isabella Pyle 36
Thomas M. Pyle 12
James Pyle 10
Thomasina Pyle 8
Isabella Pyle 5
Elizabeth A. Pyle 3
Mary A. Pyle 2
Margaret J. Pyle

Civil Parish: Cowpen
County/Island: Northumberland

Or is this a different Thomasina then?? No Louisa or Lilian, but there's a Margaret J.

So did I find a doppelganger in 1901, and not your Thomasina at all, then? Looks like it!

Janey

I now can put closure on where this lady went.

I hope I still get an answer off the GR member on her.
I will be going to the library tomorrow to find her obituary too.
Thank you Jax.

I am very very grateful for all your help

Kind regards
Linda.

Can you give us the birth reg info for sisters Louisa and Lillian?

I can't find births, and I ain't a-searchin w/o accurate info!

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 16 Dec 2010 02:02

For the children in that McGuire-McKegney household, there are these two matching births:

Births Mar 1907
McGuire Elizabeth Middlesbro' 9d 546

Births Jun 1910
MCGUIRE James Ernest Middlesbro' 9d 607

but no Thomasina.

jax -- can you look at the 1911 and see what it says for how long Thomas and Rosina were married, how many children, etc?

I don't see a marriage for them either; wondering whether they'd recently come from Ireland, for instance.

Just searched for a Thomasina born 1906-1908, living with a Thomasina.

MCGUIRE THOMASINA 1908 3 Middlesbrough Yorkshire North Riding

It's giving me weird results, but she seems to be living with a Thomasina McKegney 1854 ... No Thomasina McGuire born around 1907.

Ah, but a possible death:

Deaths Mar 1913
McGuire Thomasina J 4 Middlesbro 9d 785

1911

MCKEGNEY MRS THOMASINA 1854 57 Middlesbrough
MCKEGNEY JAMESE 1886 25
MCKEGNEY ARTHUR 1894 17
MCKEGNEY SARAH ANNE 1897 14
MCGUIRE THOMAS 1882 29
MCGUIRE ROSINA 1884 27
MCGUIRE ELIZABETH 1907 4
MCGUIRE THOMASINA 1908 3
HOUSEHOLD MCGUIRE JAMES 1910 10 MONTHS

Nothing much there looks related, I'm just puzzled by the young Thomasina Goodhall Pyle.

jax has her! But I'm still wondering about the young one, who has got to be related somehow.

I'm not having any luck in the 1911 I'm afraid. Have you tried a free search? (That's all I'm doing.)

http://www.1911census.co.uk/search/tnaform.aspx

I'm curious about that 1907 birth so I've been looking for her too -- no death, but can't find her in 1911.

Possible that Thomasina was living with someone under his surname?

Linda

Linda Report 16 Dec 2010 01:40

yes she has a sister called Margaret Hannah born 1865 Leeds. who married Thomas Needham in leeds.

I cannot dismiss that margaret as she could be cousin to thomasina.

Thank you Janey

Kind Regards
Linda

I looked for a marriage for that name just in case, none. But there's also no birth for that name.

Oh. The surname is Pyle?
