Brenda

Brenda Report 30 Jan 2011 20:23

Ok I will try again.

The facts I know for sure.

George Junior married Amelia Matilda Worgan 27/3/1864 he was 22 she was 23. they both lived in QueenStreet Brisol. he was a printer. as was his father George senior this marriage certificate says he is (deceased)

the witnessess were her father and an Emily Lambert, whom I have searched for and cannot connect with nor as a Bobbett.

I cannot find a suitable George senior on any census nor can I find George junior on the 1851 or 1861. The first time i find him is on this marriage certificate. then I have him on all the rest including the 1911. (on the 1881 call Amelia, "Sarah" but is Amelia.)

sending before I loose it again. but will continue . Brenda

HI, I am confused maybe tonight is not a good idea.

I lost one message and retyped it and have either lost that as well or I probably should have Previewed it, as a way of adding it to the growing list.?

oh no I havent lost it but its on a seperate page with your dinner request, and I dont know how I found it. what does "bookmark this mean please, i am wary to click it

so now I have gone over to my very slow and very old desk top.
"Old Faithful."

so again. i am going to try to reply from the top of todays letters.
First of all I would like to thank Estelle from Genes reunited for her help today she was kind enough to put all that info in for me at the Family history Fair.

I was given info on George senior and went ahead to check it out but as I am unaware of anything definate , I think this info is best forgotten for now. but that USA part certainly fits with the missing census details.

Ann, thank you for you letters.
George 1851 did not fit my George will check back for why not. Oh of course he would only be 13 when he married in 1864.

George 1849 married Marie Mapstone. and had a family along side my George.

George 1820 married Caroline Savior but no son George . and think they were living at a different address to my George on later census records.

Marie Celeste . Thank you for your help also. ref; George where born that applies to my first comment it was info given that i will leave for the moment.

No birth registered there are very few Bobbetts born in the 1840s George 1842 was George Lockyer father lawrence . George 1845 11 157 has Father John married Martha Jones and Harry had george and caroline for parents I have both certificates, the only other 1845 birth is illedgable.

I think george lied about his age at marriage as going by his death certificate he died 7/3/1926 age 82 . and most census records say 1845.

Thanks to you to "Potty" yes that is info another member and i shared.

George 1851 would have made him 13 when he married.

Well ladies thats it for tonight, probably won't have time tomorrow , maybe Tuesday.

Many Thanks
Brenda

Brenda, don't forget you can move backwards and forwards between the pages on this thread (that's what this is called). At the bottom right you will see what is currently page 2 of 2 and numbers inside boxes. You click on those boxes to read the other pages.

As people add posts (i.e. what I'm typing now) more pages get added.

If someone says you have a message then it usually means that they have sent you a message privately (you do that by clicking on someone's name, but it's best avoided - put all the info on here). To read those messages you'd go to the menu at the top and click on Messages - you can then access your inbox. If you do have a new private message a little white envelope usually shows on the menu above.

Regarding your emails with Estelle and a family history fair then we on here wouldn't know anything about that. Estelle works for GR - we don't, we're just members who help other members.

Are you saying that you already have the birth certificate for George born 1845 in Bristol and that's not your George?

MarieCeleste

MarieCeleste Report 31 Jan 2011 19:15

Brenda, you mentioned George 1851. There was no birth records for a George born in 1851, I think that was a reference to the 1851 census he was found in?

Brenda

Brenda Report 31 Jan 2011 20:54

I have to give up. looks like messages for me but it has gonr back to original messages.
Brenda

Brenda Report 31 Jan 2011 21:44

Bless you MaireCeleste, I was unaware of that fact and really thought I was losing the plot completly....

Ref 1851 yes of course I should have remembered it was the census and i knew I should have given up earlier as i had spent most of the weekend on Family History and the brain was adled by then, I wondered where the only 13 came from as I had never thought it before.

Yes I have that certificate x1 157 and it says Father is John a "Braps Founder" (Think I remember "Brass founder") in some other recoed Mother Martha Bobbett formrly Jones which is suggesting i think that she was previously married to another Bobbett ??

and yes that appears to be William a "Braizer" and they had a son William in 1838 X1 150, I will check my file for their census forms.

I am learning all the time, I must remember to say posts not messages which I am used to checking , but as I said before this search was unknown to me until yesterday, so thank you for your patience with me, and I do so appreciate your help..

Brenda Report 1 Feb 2011 22:57

Hi. Again I typed a long "post" and my computer froze although it appeared to post it its not there now that i have closed down and come back.

so. Due to help give above I have gone back to check each George in the 1840's.

And I am re visiting George 1842 with mother Sarah and sister Mary.

On the 1841 address list that I have previously done it has both a Lawrence Sarah and a Mary listed for Taunton. both L & S are 1811 and Mary is 1827. Later Sarah has a choice 1804/1805/1808

Then comes George.

Birth certificate says
17/12/1842 .George Lockyer. father Laurence Bobbett. Mother Sarah Bobbett formarly Lockyer. a Butcher informant L Bobbett . West Hatch (which is Taunton Somerset)

a lawrence Lockyer Bobbett died in September 1841
so that does not work ,

now I have a marriage certificate for Mary Lockyer bobbett and that says her father is John.

i have 1841 with Laurence 30 sarah 30 mary 2 and laurence 1 month
( that must be the 1841 death.) all just Bobbett

1851 George 8 mary 14 and sarah 46.
1861 george lockyer bobbett 18 sarah 55
1871 Sarah Bobbett 63

now I know why I discarded this george
1871 George Bobbett 28 married to Henrietta 34 plus 3 children
1881 " " 38 " " 44 plus 6 children
and Sarah age 77.
and all of them come from Hatch or west hatch somerset

and in 1897 one of those children Sarah Lockyer.Bobbett married..

now I think I can firmly forget this George do you agree.

so I am still searching.

good night
Brenda

Hi.

going back to the thought of George senior taking his family abroad.

Today i decided to have another check on Amelia Matilda's family
George married Amelia in 1864
Father Edward Powell Worgan he is listed as Shoemaker on her marraige cert..

1841 census lists Edward Worgan age 20 and Elizabeth worgan also age 20. ( this info was given by another member previously) and Elizabeth age 2 but no mention of Amelia born 6/11/1840 registered 24/11/1840 he is listed as publican. and from St Mary Redcliff Bristol. Mother formerly Elizabeth Stevens,

but from then on the next mention of any of the 3 on the 1841 (other than Edward adding his "mark" to Amelia's marraige certificate) is an Elizabeth born 1839 on the 1911 census, (but have not got access to this)

So i wonder if they went abroad as well. as there do not seem to be ANY Edward or Elizabeth Worgans anywhere , could not find marraige cert. or Death for him. there is an elizabeth march 1875 but i cannot read the age.

thats it for tonight.
take care
Brenda

Hi MarieCeleste

Sorry seem not to have explained properly.

It was George Bobbett that Married Amelia Matilda Worgan in 1864.
and it is Amelia's family I was looking for,

Her father is Edward Powell Worgan. and mother Elizabeth (steven)
I cannot trace them other than the above info, in 1841 both aged 20 so born about 1821 with daughter Elizabeth age 2

there is an elizabeth Worgan on the 1911 but i do not have access any further than to be told that. but not on any mention between 1841 and 1911.
