If he was born in 1905 they could well have moved by 1911...people did'nt spend long at each address back then

Elaine, I'm not sure that Avondale Avenue would have been shared housing but it was certainly private rental and people flitted all the time.

In 1911 no 53 was unoccupied, but it doesn't really have any bearing on where the Frith's would be.

This is all a bit complicated but i think it fits together.

Having looked at the 1911 census I cannot find father George anywhere. However, but unfortunately being unable to post any details because of copyright on the 1911 census (by rights anything posted from that census should immediately be removed) I can say that young George is there but the surname looks like Kith.
Working on what I have found I would guess that Ellen Horrigan was actually Mary Ellen Horrigan born Sunderland AMJ 1870, parents Dennis and Mary from Ireland.
She marries John Dodds 1890 AMJ South Shields and has children John H (i wonder if he was before the marriage), Mary Ann, Dennis, Catherine, Michael, Francis and Elizabeth.
She will then have to split up with John as he dies JFM 1907..
She marries George Frith as Mary Ellen Dodds OND 1909 with children George, Mary Ellen, William and Henry the first three before the marriage.

I would get the marriage cert for George and Mary Ellen and see what it says.

There is a Mary E Frith who dies in the Tynemouth area in 1930 age 60 which would be correct for Mary Ellen's death.

You can find all references for the certs on FreeBMD

The copyright of the FMP Transcriptions belongs to FMP which is owned by the same company (Brightsolid) that owns GR. The copyright of the original images belongs to the crown as it does with all census images.

You cannot copy and paste the original images anyway . The transcribed images are fine as long as you use FMP or GR on this site although we do paste other census info from Ancestry. Other forums do not allow pasting of any transcriptions because they do not own the copyright.

That's how i see it.

pm received from Elaine today prompted me to look at the 1911 census posted above by jax on 25 April

looking at the original, the K on Kennedy and the K of Kith are very different, I would say that Kith should read Frith

>>>>> edit, just to add that on the original, it says Mary Kith/ Frith had been married 6 years and had 4 children born to marriage by 1911, all of whom were still living

jax

jax Report 16 May 2011 17:49

Yes I know it should be Frith and I also told her ages ago to return to this thread when she asked the same question on Jacquelines thread
