I think Harry Dence, was born @ 1870 in East Malling kent to Henry Dence 1840 and mary A 1849.
I also think this is Harry's death
Harry Dence 1937 age 68 = 1869.died Bromley J/F/M 2a 1047.

Henry Dence 1840 died Malling kent 1923.

I can't find Harry Dence 1869 on 1911 census!!

Can't find her marriage to Thomas Golding,or anything about Bert and Mary Allen who are supposed to be in laws on 1911 census

That 1901 census might be connected to your family somewhere along the line, but i would just keep it for future reference for now.
You didnt come across as rude at all Clair..........so no worries. x

I think Robert Knapp 1831-1881 was the son of Robert Knapp 1806 -1849 Kent and Mary/Marianne Simms 1811 kent.

There are many trees on Ancestry with robert knapps family but they don't have info on the marriages of Hellen/Ellen knapp.

hi prickly....now I'm getting back into this, I remember using the freeBMD (sometimes helpful, sometimes not, but just haven't got time & money to devote myself to this fully at the moment, so it does its job lol) Thnx to all your, & everyone else's, help on here, & finding all the variant spellings....would I be right in saying our Robert Tul(l)ett was born in Greenwich Q2 1d 636, & will that tie him in anywhere with your 1901 census, which mentions greenwich, but not a robert, so although not directly in that family, maybe somewhere along the line.....? Or am I just confusing things unnecessarily?

Clair

Clair Report 21 Feb 2011 19:01

that will keep me VERY busy prickly..thnku. its brilliant that you're getting the maiden names too...opens up whole new families! I managed to find so much about my husband's family based on a maiden name as it was so much more unusual than the male line we were trying to follow!

Mary

Mary Report 21 Feb 2011 19:00

It seems now that Robert Knapp was born in Sutton at hone Kent. 1831 and died @ 1881.

thanx a lot prickly...you've been busy!! hope I didn't sound rude checking that census, just didn't want to ignore it when it was important :-)

The first 1901 census i gave you Clair was before we knew Elizabeths father was called Robert.
I will leave it on here in case it becomes relevant further down the road!

would you pronounce the "tu" of tullett like tulip? I just assumed it was 'tull-ett' not 'tu-llett'...but literacy yes. even simple ones like dance & dence.one letter wrong makes all the difference!!
sorry, forgot about Alice in other census....so ellen was widowed & presumably moved in with her sister's family.
can we discount the 1901 census from pricklyholly which had parents as william & esther? or are they connected somewhere along the line?

MaureeninNY

MaureeninNY Report 21 Feb 2011 17:29

I would have given a chance at Alice being a sister?

Maureen
Sorry- Tulip and Tullett would sound close to me! Literacy being a bit of a problem?

Clair

Clair Report 21 Feb 2011 17:05

lol Maureen....tulip & tullett aren't even close! if you're mishearing them & you're job's in important documents, you need another job!!

who are they?? I think I need to scroll up! who is alice to ellen?

MaureeninNY

MaureeninNY Report 21 Feb 2011 16:56

I think we all just shuddered at "that name" TULLETT (and variations).

Love TULIP,though!!!!

OK,so is this who they are with in 1891???
