Christina/Rootgatherer

This looks very promising. Can you advise how I can obtain documents regarding the christening of Samuel 17/2/1833 and William 1839.

Many thanks for your help.

Regards
Ian

Not sure if this is of help or confusing the issue.

Samuel Baugh's baptism is also in the England & Wales Christening Records, 1530-1906 on Ancestry, but I don't have access. Perhaps it would give his father's occupation for cross reference?

Posting this as a possibility because of how it sounds and also because there is a baptism for a William Ball in Tarporley in 1829 with the same parents.

It is some while since I reviewed this line, but would like to try again if anyone can help.

I am trying to find birth/christening details for Samuel Ball born in Delamere, Cheshire in 1832/1833. I believe his parents were Samuel and Amelia. In the 1841 census he is shown in the civil parish of Christleton living with his parents and brothers William and John, although the surname is showing as Bull. In 1846 a sister was born Martha. I can find birth records for John and Martha but not Samuel. By 1851 his parents had died and I can find no trace of Samuel in the 1851 census. He married Elizabeth Hankinson in 1855.

Can anyone find any birth/christening details or point me in the right direction.

Kind Regards

Ian

Could you help regarding these?

Could you just post the information about Amelia's marriage, so we can see what it said?
There are several St Oswald's on google searches - have you looked?
Thanks

Can anyone help? I have a John Edwin Ball born 1839/40 in Tarvin. I have downloaded the entry from the 1851 census which on the individual record shows him living in oscroft cheshire. However the household census I downloaded just shows numbers of individual records and no names. I am trying to establish who he was living with.

You can go straight here to order too:

https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/default.asp

(I keep the link handy to hand out.)

One way or another you might be able to confirm that it's the right Amelia -- the informant could be a son or a child, the address, something that indicates her age.

Marriage certificates didn't always say when the father was deceased. We might imagine somebody being asked "father's occupation?" and just giving it. Why didn't you say he was deceased? Nobody asked me. ;)

patchem

patchem Report 27 Feb 2011 11:29

The death certificate will not say automatically who the husband was. It will have an informant, who might be the husband.
You have to apply for the certificate, follow the instructions through the free bmd site.

Janey
thaks for finding the death of amelia in 1847. As I am relatively inexperienced in this geneology business can you advise as to how I go about seeing more of this record. Can I obtain a death certificate for this record and will it tell me who the husband was?
