Apologies for not repling sooner - Alexanders occupation was impossible to read on his marriage certificate and I can't find any record of his children - have been onto scotlands people but nothing in cencus or individual birth cerificates. I know his father Colin was a Shepard/crofter. He married Mary on 22.12.1860 Urquhart and Logie Wester, Ross and Cromarty, his mothers name looked like Christy but again hard to read, but that is about it.
I'm a bit stumped as to where to go now.

The dates that I have for all the children were given to me by another family member who started the search but stopped, Dee this very much looks like it could be them. Allangrange is very close to where the next few generations were born.

I had another close look at Alexanders marriage certificate and it looks like his address could have been Mains Park, Highfield (very hard to read though so could be wrong)

I noted that problem too back on p.1 -- I don't think they're split on the census, I think Ancestry has made a complete hash of it.

That's why I suggest looking at the records at scotlandspeople to see how the household really looks on the originals.
