Mary - Thank you very much for that. A fine piece of detective work. I only wish it gave me a better clue about the mysterious Daisy!

There is
168,High Street Homerton Dr Alfred Stanhope S Dawson. born 1857
170 High Street Homerton a shop occupier Mr crumsden /Crowder I can't make it out.

Found the reason why no 170 showing up,it is the transcribers.
They have put no 120 instead of 170.
When you look at original for Alfred stanhope Dawson 1857 at no 168 go to the list and it says next door no 170 is a shop.
but when you try to view next door to no 168 it is down as 120.
At that address is
John henry Crowden 1850 London
Laura francis 1855 married 39 years
William Henry Crowden age 17

Electoral Rolls 1912 John Henry Crowden 170 High Street Homerton.

On original it says 170 High street. 7 rooms.

There was also a Homerton High Street where the Hackney and Homerton Central Institution was and that was on the side of the street with even No's.
It became Hackney hospital.
If you Google 181 Homerton High St and follow the street view round you will see the hospital and where the Institution was.

Patchem - Thank you again. I could not find 170 either but the address on Daisy's daughter's birth cert is clearly 170! I wonder where they were?

Still it does look like a brick wall. I think I will have to give in with this one for now. Thank you Patchem and all of the other people that have tried to help with this conundrum.

Been searching through the 1911 census with no progress. However, I do know there is a 35 Hale Gardens but tried to find that on Ancestry and Find My Past to see who was living there - long shot, but about all I have left - found there is a Mr Bendall with 2 females on the summary but no details! As usual I can find it on 1911census.co.uk but spent all my credits searching the other ones. ......... Can anyone else shed any light on who was living at 35 Hale gardens in 1911??

Michael Report 31 Jan 2012 14:03

By the 1911 census living at 4 The Broadway (Gus's address on the marriage cert) was his widowed mother, 2 of his brothers and a brother's wife. Not a great deal of help, but something at least. Pity Daisy's relatives did not stay at The Hale!!!! I guess I will try to find out if the people living at 35 The Hale had anything to do with Daisy!!?? :-|

Mary - I wondered about the change but I would assume that it would not be changed to something that was incorrect.

Patchem - sorry not a clue about her death. All the facts I have are concentrated around her marriage cert (1909) and the 1911 census!

I think I will try to search the 1911 census for - 4 The Braodway, White Hart Land, Tottenham (Gustavus's address on marriage cert) to see if that reveals anything!

It looks like the same writing on the added piece of paper on the 1911 census, so perhaps they thought it was neater to do it that way than cross it out if they had made a genuine mistake in spelling?

Do you know when she died, in case she was out with her age for whatever reason?

Anyone got any thoughts on Daisy's place of birth be changed on 1911 original census?

Have just found 35 PERCIVAL COTTAGE THE HALE on http://www.1911census.co.uk/search/results5.aspx?x=2004506104 but I do not have any credits at the moment.......... And so far I cannot get it to come up on any other of the 1911 sites that I know of.... :-( :-(

Tried a different tack. According to the marriage cert Daisy Rumble lived at 35 The Hale Tottenham when she was married (18 Sep 1909). So tried to search the 1911 census for this address...................... zero, zilch, nada, nothing :-(

Michael Report 30 Jan 2012 16:45

Tracey - Well done, but regrettably I did have that info. However, she (and her father) still seem to be a mystery before her marriage on 18 Sep 1909!!! Don't tell be you have been defeated......:-P :-P ;-)

Patchem - John Rumble is not recorded as deceased on the marriage cert. Like you I can not find Daisy and John anywhere! As Gus was a professional soldier I am wondering if they met abroad........... :-(
