Perhaps her parents weren't married?

this is where i get lost Hannah would have had a partner by the name hill for Annie to use this name although she was christened Annie Bertha Georgina Sabin

It gives Mary Hill's maiden name as "Barter"

There is no way of knowing whether a chap by the name of Richard is the Father of Annie or whether the name Richard was just a name entered on her marriage certificate to "Save face" so to speak!
