If you get the marriage certificate for Samuel Gunn and Harriet Huneybell - 1890 - Apr-Jun- Gravesend - Vol. 2a - Page 841 this should give you the name of Samuel's father.

I've found the marriage on the CityArk site-but I'll be darned if I can find him on any census (Father is listed as James Gunn-carpenter).

Marriage cert can be viewed here:

Somehow I don't think that's the right fellow (no son Samuel on the 1851 either). :-( :-(

I have a funny feeling that a name change of some sort has taken place with Samuel along the way. Hopefully we may get some clues from Eleanor's birth cert when you receive that.

hi all received the birth certificate of eleanor gunn, samuel and emmas daughter emmas maiden name was emma clark i am looking for a marriage certificate posibly married around 1870 to 1872 emma was born in coleshill warwickshire in 1853 and samuel in guisborough/middlebrough in 1845.
they also had two sons samuel born 1875 and [ james 1873 my g.g.grandfather ] who died at sea in 1898. on eleanors birth cert it says, mothers name emma gunn formelly clark and on samuels 2nd marriage cert in 1890 it reads 1st wife deceased so i presume emma and samuel were married
