I'm trying to find out on which ship to Australia my ancestors left England.
Minnie Jane (b.1857) & Charles Thomas (b.1852) Leveson-Gower and her unmarried sister Edith Rose Lindop (b.1866).
Minnie was married in London in March 1883, and her first child was born in Victoria, Australia in 1885, so a two year window.
Have tried Ancestry to no avail. This is a difficult one! Any help would be very much appreciated.
Many thanks. Lesley

Well it looks like they were there by 1892

Hi Gins... many thanks for that, you're right. Both sisters lived in Tas for a time. Lesley

Hi Lesley

If you change the title of your thread and add Oz, you might get some help from our Ozzy cousins who frequent the boards

records wont cover Minnie and Charles as pre 1890.

Someone with incoming Australia records may find them if you amend your thread title to include Australia records wanted

Gee Report 15 May 2012 18:40

Depends what site you use, there are records (passenger) from 1826 on Ancestry and earlier for convicts

Oh my goodness! You've found them! Thank you so much. I was convinced that Alfred and Elizabeth Lindop, their father and stepmother went out too because I couldn't find their deaths in the uk. or anything after my great grandfather's marriage. I've been looking for years! Thank you thank you thank you!!

Can I ask where did you find the passenger list from - was it Ancestry? I must be hopeless if it is?

I had found the girls' uncle and great aunt going out to Aus. in 1853 aboard 'Arundel', on Ancestry, so some records there at that time. But their uncle John Ladd, (b.1811) wife Jane Catherine and daughter Sarah Barber & husband George went out also and I can't find them either. Lx

From the Melbourne Argus 20th August 1887 -
Charles Thomas Leveson-Gower of Kyneton, a draper, was made bankrupt.

I see that Leverson-Gower is a very aristocratic surname - the Duke of Sutherland, no less! Sir G.W. Sutherland-Leveson-Gower. Any relation? :-D
