This is the correct family as William Stone grand daughter married Eli Elliott son. Thank you as i have not been able to find this. So at least i do know that William was alive in 1891. William age was 55

Also the 1901 census you have for Margaret could be right as i says she was living in Bristol but from Derby. I notice if had her profession as a Nurse. I wonder if that was how they met in India?

I do not know if Margaret had a middle name but its still possible with the death you found. It just the age on it put her about 5 years older

This could be the correct death in 1895 then as i still can not find anything in 1901. The age on there is right as well at 59.
Shame could not find anything on the passenger list.. But it does seem to look like he was in the Fusiliers

I follow down from Francis C Stone. I have not ordered oversea certificates before would i have to order it on Find my past website.
Was you able to find the information on Francis as he was not on the list above.
Does this site also show marriages in India??

As Chris sent the birth details for the children showing the 23rd foot then this could be for William. AS at the moment i did not know why William was in India. But all this information i am now thinking that William was in the Fusiliers and met Margaret in India as she was a nurse...

I will have to try and confirm so of this..
If i could maybe find the details for Francis birth and order his certificate.

Couldn't see one for Francis, or Marriage, but other names should help with Mothers Maiden name, hopefully to help carry on...

The marriage you found for Joseph and Annie Batt is correct.
The other children marriages are:
Francis to Ada Radnedge in 1896.
George to Sarah Ann Forse in 1900.
Margaret to William Norris in 1889

I do have Francis and George copy of there marriages..
But not Joseph and Margaret yet.

So glad you got more info from the other helpers. Chris and Vera are very good.

I just could'nt leave it alone last night and carried on till late.

I did see the census with William Stone aged 55 and wondered but was so tired by this time I could'nt follow it through.

Yes that is the correct marriage.
All i have to do more is go backwards and find William parents and Margaret maiden name..
It only taken me about 3 years to get this far as i stopped at this point on the family due to being born/married in India and i just did not now where to go to get the information.

I should also be able to find William somewhere on the 1841 and 1851 if he did not join up until 1853

I dont think this is him either. It seems that he must have joined the Fusiliers in 1853 and went to India then. I dont know when he came back only that his last child was born in 1873 India and then he is on the 1881 census.
My William Stone is going around and around in my head now and i can not out him down...lol
This is why i had to stop the research before.
I am going to look at the Fusilier side to, as i did not know about that

This is the census from Ancestry that Chris put up. they have William's age wrong but on the form in a circle under age is 55.

The only trouble is that Eli Francis Elliot married Mary JANE Cockell and a Joseph Cockle is also a lodger.
