The son of Rose is listed on white pages

You can find his name and his sibling on freebmd

Looks like his sister is on white pages too, when you search for her, leave off the first two letters of her given name....

Gins you are a geneous. Rose Vivien is his daughter, I wonder why she hasn't come up as a tree match on my ancestry tree?
I'm at work at the moment, but will look more closely tonight. Thank you.

I think there's only one province (BC) that has a death index for 1976, and he's not there:
http://search.bcarchives.gov.bc.ca/sn-32116FB/gbsearch/Births,Marriages,Deaths

Most provinces have a 50y closure on deaths, but not Ontario
Ontario is just across the Niagara R from Buffalo, and was always the most likely province he'ld go to.
Ontario has no closure period on deaths, but there's no index published for 70y.
However, with a fairly definite d.o.d., you should only need just one search, so getting his d.cert would be feasible.
If, as you suspect, it was rego'ed by his daur, it would likely show her marr surname. Closure for Bs & Ms is 97/82 y in Ont.
Check out: https://www.orgforms.gov.on.ca/eForms/start.do?lang=en

Incidentally, CPR will not release personal records of employees.

Not naughty in this case Gins. I am 100% sure of his relationship to my family. He was one of the reasons I got into doing my family tree. I was trying to find out how many twins run in the family. I have twins. I am a twin. my grandparents (his brother) had two sets of twins and I knew Harry Edward was a twin to Gladys Lydia. In fact their parents had another set of twins too!

Harry and my grandfather Samuel John were two of 12 children and I am in contact with various "cousins" and their families. Unfortunately, the one line I do not have any contact for, is his. It seems that they lost contact with them when Harry went to Canada. I think because he left his wife behind, they disowned his family too. I think all the children fell out over it too. Shame really.

I organised a family reunion in Yorkshire a few years back and his line was the only one who didn't have a representative there because I couldn't find them all. It seems his children have moved all over the place and I know a few emigrated to be with him at a later point.

Maureen. The large families continue throughout the Bird family, but I have traced most of them and am trying to trace other lines from further back now too.

I don't have anything to gain by getting the certificates, except perhaps, a death cert which might tell me who registered his death, but expect that to be one of his daughters.

If he went to NY in 1955, he must have moved to Canada later on, I was hoping to find out when, how and where, but I guess you are right, it is a little too recent

I notice on the passenger list mentioned that he was a railway worker and was hoping to find something out about this, but have drawn a blank

I have got as many certificates or parish copies as I can, especially from my direct line, but as the families are so big, I have to be a bit selective now. My mum was one of 10, my grandfather one of 12, His father was one of 11 and his father one of 8. All went on to have big families too!

If either of you two ladies can find a crossing from NY to Canada, I would be very grateful. Any crossings for his children would be nice too.Thanks.
Regards
Dee

Well...yes,he seemed to be traveling alone in 1955.

Gosh-7 daughters and 2 sons?

Sorry-I can't see anything more. It's a little recent for Canadian records.

Get some certs please :-D

♥Deetortrainingnewfys♥ Report 23 Jul 2012 20:34

No sorry, no certs.

Have received most of the info from elderly cousins of Harry (and what mum remembered years ago).

The only other info I have was that he may have married again (to Annie ?) around 1968.

There are trees, all over the place, with his details and different parents!

Do you have the certificates?

Maureen & Gins
Sorry I have been away for a while, posted at work this afternoon then it got busy. Got home, walked dog, now I'm Back
That is Harry in 1911 census
The marriage is wrong - wrong parents.
Thanks for the passenger details, that is definately him as he was born a twin 4th Jan 1902 in Cherry Burton, Yorks. Was he travelling alone? there are family rumours that he left his wife behind and went to join one of his daughters out there. He was married to Ivy Dunwell in Beverley June 1/4 1923. He had 7 daughters but not sure which one it was that he joined, but another joined him later. Their names were Dorothy, Rose, Marion, Joan, Sylvia, Maureen, & Christine.
He was my grandfather's brother and my mum said he went to Canada but that is all I know. He had two sons too. Clifford and Lawrence.
My mum mentioned that he could have re-married to someone called Annie, but I don't have any details, presumably he divorced Ivy unless Annie was his common law wife???
I was hoping to track him down, I know he visited Yorkshire in the 1960's because I have a photograph of him with my grandparents - and the women mum called Annie.
Apparently, he used to send post cards from Canada to my mum's cousin when she was a little girl, but he would write them backwards for fun.
