Welcome to genesreunited, Jennifer,

As this thread is almost 4 years old, people who participated may not be actively reading the boards.

If you want to contact anyone from this thread more directly, click on their names and send them a message.

Also, have you looked to see who has Frances Screaton in their trees on here, and tried to send them messages?

Never trust anyone else - including me.
Get some(as many as you can afford) certificates and work your way back, very cautiously.

No, I have been looking, but cannot see him in any of the censuses or death.
Screaton does get several different spellings.

So who was Mr Passingham?

Flip

Flip Report 13 Aug 2012 21:29

It's a possibility they were related, both from B-u-S, but neither recorded in the baptism records.

I can't find George or Eliza on 1911 census - Patchem have you looked for them please?

Isobell

Isobell Report 13 Aug 2012 21:24

If Mr Jones marries Miss Brown, the child e.g. Frances will appear as
Births Sep 1935
Jones Frances Brown Melton M. 7a 441
so either Mr Screaton married Miss Screaton for your Frances, or there is no Father on the birth certificate, so illegitimate.

Flip Report 13 Aug 2012 21:11

Don't worry, there's nothing to find. There aren't any christenings recorded, or marriages.

However, that tree has George Alfred getting married to Eliza Botterill in June 1907 (Barrow upon Soar), although there is something wrong with the bmd indexing I think they may be right. There's a marriage for him, with a missing female, and a marriage for her with a missing male, June qtr 1907.

Maybe he wasn't free to re-marry?
