No need to nudge.........we've had to wait for you to come back!!!!

Assuming your problem starts with Eleanor'.................

Eleanor Alexandra's father was William Henry.

Do you have her birth cert to confirm the name of her mother? You refer to ' William and Eleanor's marriage', without giving her surname.

Is this the right birth?

Name: Eleanor Alexandra Baker
Date of Registration: Apr-May-Jun 1863
Registration district: Wolverhampton
Inferred County: Staffordshire

before you send for certificates it may be worth looking at the site staffordshirebmd.org.uk as some maiden names are recorded on the births - you may be lucky

I am only guessing that is the area you are looking at from your 'researching' bit

I'll be happy to join in if you want to give us the info as Reggie suggests.J

You must bear in mind that the certs may not be availalble. Until 1875, there were no penalties for not registering births

Perhaps we could try to help you?

A different 'slant' on things sometimes proves effective.

You must have worked back from yourself, so certain info you will be 100% sure of.............tell us where the query lies, - if you wish to, of course.

UK Birth certificates since their introduction in 1837 have always shown what is believed to be the mothers maiden name,
